DCSC Construction Update

As we approach the end of the year, we want to make you aware that beginning on May 28, 2024 there will only be one way into the high school, and the entry from US 36 will not be available until school resumes. You will be able to use Westview Drive to enter the north parking lot.

The plan is to begin construction on a new northwest parking lot specifically to be used for bus parking, band practice, and event parking. Construction will begin (weather permitting) on May 28, 2024. This will take approximately six weeks to complete, and the goal is for this part of the project to be completed before the start of the 24-25 school year.

If your student is participating in summer athletic conditioning, they will need to park in the north parking lot and walk to door 14.

We recently had our very first DCSC Advocates Day, and our group of advocates had the opportunity to tour the construction sites at South Elementary and DCHS! We had some amazing questions from the group, and we really love that we were able to begin showing more of the community how everything is coming together!

South Elementary's front office looks like it will be ready for people to work in very soon! The front desk is in place, walls are up, tiling and flooring are ongoing, overhead work is ongoing, and cabinetry is installed.

Every single day that they are working, the new classroom addition looks more and more like real classrooms! We are now seeing more walls and wall tiling, celling grids, fresh paint, and window installations!

Things are moving at DHCS! We officially have a fully operational temporary front office, housing all of our front office staff, which also features a temporary secure entry. We have also started to see ceiling grid work begin. Our old front entrance and office are officially shut down for construction now, and as we move toward the summer, we will begin to see more of the school shutting down for specific parts of the project. More updates on that will come very soon.

We have also seen a lot of work started on the outside of the building! If you have driven past the school recently, you may have noticed that the topsoil is being removed around the old main entrance and that the roof and walls have been removed around the southwest corner of the building!

Below is our tentative phasing timeline for DCHS. Please note that this is subject to change.
