2 lbs GF Stuffing
A LOT OF LOVE W/ A DASH OF SALT
Thank you Miss Sam and Miss Donna!!!!!
Another huge shout out goes to our Kindness Council, led by Mrs. Westerman, for their great work on our Socktober sock collection. Our LES community was able to donate over 3,500 pairs of socks!!! WOW!!!! Special thanks to the parents who helped to deliver our socks to local area shelters. I love it when we spread LES kindness throughout our community!
Looking ahead, next week our third graders will be taking field trips to the Newport Aquarium -- thank you LEPTA!!! On Wednesday, we will celebrate our November Terrific Tigers with our Pizza with the Principals lunch! The following week, we have the week off to celebrate Thanksgiving. 2024 is flying by!!
Enjoy your weekend!

Kindness Council Update
New Socktober Update!
I wanted to share that I evidently missed two white boxes filled to the top with socks that were under a bench and covered. I counted all the socks left with a grand total of 755 pairs! I am delivering 794 new pairs of socks for men, women, and children to the life pantry today. I spoke with a Director and she was thrilled to get this news. With the cold weather coming, this will help all of our families around the community stay warm this winter.
This discovery of additional socks brings our grand total to 4,281 pairs of new socks to support our families within the Cincinnati Community. I wanted to make sure I sent it for tiger talk if you want to share the grand total.
Health Message
A few additional cases of Pertussis have been diagnosed at LES. This extends the date that families need to monitor their students for symptoms of Pertussis until 11/27/24. As a reminder, here is a letter about Pertussis we shared in a Tiger Talk earlier this month:
Dear Parents and Caregivers, We’re reaching out to notify you that a few students at LES have been diagnosed with Pertussis (whooping cough). To contain the spread of this infection, we are asking parents to monitor your child(ren) for symptoms, keep your sick child(ren) home, and take them to see a healthcare provider for testing and treatment if you observe any signs or symptoms of Pertussis. Please make your healthcare provider aware of this message if your child seeks medical care. The period of observing your child related to this exposure ends on 11/27/24. Early signs of Pertussis are similar to that of a common cold, with a runny nose, sneezing, and mild cough. After one to two weeks, the cough becomes more severe and spasmodic. People can infect others from the time they begin to have cold-like symptoms until three weeks after the coughing episodes begin. Adults and children with DPT immunizations may have a milder disease. However, Pertussis can cause serious illness with sometimes fatal complications in young infants and persons with pre-existing respiratory disease. Unimmunized persons are also at risk and should consult with their physicians. A person with Pertussis is infectious until they have completed 5 days of antibiotics. The Ohio Administrative Code (OAC 3701-3-13 (R)), states that “A person with Pertussis… if effective antimicrobial therapy is given… shall be isolated for five days after initiation of antimicrobial therapy.” This means that if your child is diagnosed with Pertussis, they must remain at home and may not attend school, daycare, or other activities until five full days of antibiotics are given. Law requires that the local health department complete a full investigation when results are positive for certain infectious diseases, such as Pertussis, in order to prevent further spread. Here is a link to information about Pertussis from the CDC. If you consult your healthcare provider, you may wish to ask if it is time to receive a combined pertussis and tetanus booster (Tdap) that is available for adults and children. Please call your healthcare provider if you have any questions or concerns. You can also reach out to the LES office with questions or concerns. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Jennifer Forren LES Principal Treva Lyke RN District Nurse

In addition to gifts, families receive wrapping supplies. There is a collection box in the LES lobby if you like to donate wrapping supplies--wrapping paper, gift bags, bows, and tape. All donations should be returned by Friday, December 6.
HOLIDAY SUPPORT
The holidays will be here before we know it! Every year, LES staff sponsors some of our families that need a little extra support during this time of year. Loveland community members are amazing and have expressed interest in helping us out as well. If you would like to help make the holidays extra special for some of our students and families, you may sign up below to donate a gift card(s). You can send the gift card to school with your student or drop it off at the front desk. Please put "Attention Sarah Albani" on the envelope. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Albani albanisa@lovelandschools.org. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Grandparents Great Influencers Day Information
Our “Grandparents and Great Influencers” event will be taking place at LES on Friday, December 6th. Each student will have an opportunity to spend time at school with a grandparent or another person who has been a great influence in their life. Each LES classroom will have a different time throughout the day for their special event and recognition. Grandparents/Influencers will check in through our gym doors and will be directed to their student's homeroom.

***Due to space constraints, we will not be able to accommodate visitors for lunch. We ask that no younger siblings attend -- only adult visitors please.
***Please note that if a grandparent is going to sign out a student for the day, he/she will have to be on the emergency contact list along with a note or email from a parent/guardian. Time missed for the day will count as an absence or a tardy depending on the length of time.

Science and Innovation Expo
This year Loveland will be hosting our first ever Science and Innovation Expo! The event will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm at Loveland High School. This day is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the amazing learning that happens around Loveland! The Science and Innovation Expo is a one-day event that incorporates two pathways for students to pick from, a Science Expo and an Innovation Expo.
For more information about each pathway, click here to watch a video, or read the brief description below:
Here is more information about each pathway:
- The Science Expo is a traditional science fair where students have the opportunity to conduct a scientific research project or engineering design project, and present their findings to their peers and community judges, with the opportunity to qualify for Regional Science Day at University of Cincinnati, called the Science and Engineering Expo. If students achieve well at UC, they have the opportunity to qualify for State Science Day at Ohio State University. This pathway is open to students in grades 5-12, and students can present individually or up to groups of three.
- The Innovation Expo is an open-ended opportunity for students to identify a problem and solve it with something they will create, or to simply create and share something creative, inventive, or innovative. Some ideas may be a DIY craft, coding/computer science project, an engineering creation, or anything else in which your child creates something to share! This pathway is open to all students grades PreK-12, and community judges will provide informal feedback about strengths of each project, as well as areas to grow. Students can participate individually or up to groups of three.
To learn more details about the event, how to submit a project, project ideas, and project requirements, visit Loveland's website at https://lovelandschools.org/expo
For any questions, please reach out to innovation@lovelandschools.org. We hope to see you on February 1st!
