Join Sandi Brown, Daybreak Primary first grade teacher, for three sessions highlighting different components of successful literacy instruction in a first grade classroom. In these sessions, first grade teachers will learn best practices for literacy instruction. Teachers will receive PD focused on these practices, will have opportunities to observe lessons in a first grade classroom, and will have time to plan lessons together. Each session will feature a demonstration of the session's highlighted component and time for debriefing, discussion, and questions. First Grade Academy is geared toward first or second-year first grade teachers, BUT IS OPEN TO ALL 1st GRADE TEACHERS.
Session Information:
February 28th, 8:30 - 11:30 AM: Shared Reading
March 25th, 8:30 - 11:30 AM: Guided Reading
May 6th, 8:30 - 11:30 AM: Phonics and Phonemic Awareness
**All sessions will be held at Daybreak Primary, room 209**

Q: How do I request a substitute?
A: Please complete a Pre-Arranged Absence request with your building secretary. Make sure to check the "Teaching & Learning" box, and indicate "First Grade Academy with Sandi Brown" to ensure your substitute request is routed to the correct budget.
Q: Will I get clock hours for attending sessions?
A: Yes! Each session attended is worth 3 clock hours.
