Principal Message
What a beautiful week at the nest! We are thrilled that the weather and temperatures are cooperating at this time of the year! If you haven't already, PLEASE take time to label your child's winter gear. Our lost and found is overflowing and will only get worse as the weather turns colder! We will send pictures of the lost and found items when we return.
As a reminder, report cards and truancy letters were emailed today. If you don't see them in your inbox, please check your junk/spam folders.
We wish all of our Olive families a restful Thanksgiving week. We are grateful for this community!
We will see students back at school on Monday, November 27th.
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT
A TREMENDOUS thank you to the Olive Families that hosted a country for our first ever OMS multicultural night! The event far exceeded anything we could have imagined! If you were not able to join us, please enjoy a highlight video from our night.
SCIENCE CLUB - NEW SESSIONS
Science Club is back with three sessions, meeting on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, January 16
through March 6. We’re offering hands-on science adventures for students in grades two
through five; first grade students may participate if an older sibling is enrolled in Science Club
AND an adult can volunteer to help every day that the first grade student attends.
We meet from 3:35 until 4:45 PM in the LMC.
Session 1: Bubbles and More (three weeks)
How fast do bubbles and bearings move in tubes of oil? What weird and wonderful shapes
appear when Zometool frameworks are dipped in bubble solution?
Session 2: Triple E: Electrons, Electricity, and Electromagnetic Waves (three weeks on
Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
Electricity is not merely a flow of electrons in a wire; it is also a flow of photons in an
electromagnetic wave. How to photo cells produce electricity? How do the electrons in an
element’s atomic structure relate to its electrical properties? Find out through experiments
and games.
Session 3: Magnets and Magnetism (two weeks on Tuesdays or Wednesdays)
We’ll explore the properties of magnets and magnetism on the first week, then wrap up
winter Science Club with the fast-paced “Magnet Challenge”.
Want to join in the fun? Then complete and return the registration form as soon as possible.
Sessions can fill up very quickly. The number of students per session is dependent on the
number of adult volunteers.
To ensure that we’re able to provide a safe and enjoyable activity at least two adults will be
present each day. Any days that do not have at least one adult volunteer will be cancelled.
Please consider signing up to help on one or more days as your schedule allows.
Questions? Please contact Cynthia House at chouse@sd25.org.
Help for the Holidays
The holidays are quickly approaching, and we have families in our OMS community that can use a little extra help during the holiday season. Please contact me if your family is one that would benefit from this assistance. Gifts or gift cards will be collected to distribute to families who respond by November 22. Reach out to the social worker by confidential voicemail or email listed below.
