Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. It is a way to support everyone — especially students with disabilities — to create the kinds of schools where all students are successful.
Kilgour has a PBIS team that meets monthly. Team members are :
Erin Hans - KDG/ Parent
Sarah McKay - Gifted
Robert Cheney - 1st Grade/Building Rep.
Michelle Lisch - 2nd Grade
Stacy Lunn - School Psychologist
Sara Kindle - Reading Intervention
Tommy Barker - 4th Grade
Stephanie Bisher - 6th Grade/ Parent
Sarah Hellmann - School Social Worker
Brandon Parks - ALC
Ravine Park - 3rd Grade
Joseph O’Flynn - Specialist
Laura McMullen - Specialist
John Linser-Wilder - Intervention Specialist
Shelley Stein - Vice Principal
Angela Cook Frazier, Principal
Lauren Alexander - Parent
School Expectations
Kilgour is a Responsive Classroom school and we use the following expectations: We Take Care of Ourselves, Others, and the Environment. We worked as a staff to create this Matrix to identify desired behaviors in specific schoolwide locations. Teachers are currently reviewing these expectations with students as we start the second semester. Please take a moment to review Kilgour’s expectations with your child.
Council on Child Abuse (COCA)
This winter, our students will participate in child abuse and bullying awareness workshops facilitated by trained staff from the Council on Child Abuse of Southern Ohio (COCA). Kindergarten through second grade will receive the child abuse workshop and third through sixth will receive the bullying awareness workshop. COCA will be onsite January 17-19, 2024. If you have questions or concerns about the content of COCA’s presentations, please visit the FAQ page of their website at www.cocachild.org.
All students will participate in this program unless they have a written form indicating that you do not give permission. If you have additional questions, please call Shelby Smith (Program Assistant) at the Council on Child Abuse at (513) 684-7976.
High School Lottery Application
CPS has simplified the lottery process. Magnet and high school lotteries now have only one extended application period. You may designate up to three school preferences. All applications submitted during the application period will be processed in a computerized random order. Applications are not processed in a first-come-first-served order. Prioritization is given to applicants based on established board policies to ensure each student has an equitable chance of being assigned to first-choice schools.
Additional information and the Lottery Application can be found here.
Questions about the Lottery process?
- Contact the CPS Customer Care Center at 513-363-0123 or CPSHelp@cpsboe.k12.oh.us
- Please note the Customer Care Center accepts calls from 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during normal operating days. Approximately six weeks after the lotteries close, CPS will notify you of your child's placement and provide registration instructions.
Registration is now open for Kilgour Spring Sports! Registration will end on February 4th!
This spring, Kilgour Sports Boosters will offer league competition for Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, and Soccer.
Volleyball will be a practice only option again for Spring 2024 with a return to league competition in the fall. Spring practices will be held by grade level 1 night/week in the Kilgour gym. PONY LEAGUE CONTINUES FRIDAY, JANUARY 19TH!!
Pony League will consist of two (1) hour sessions on Friday evenings in the Kilgour Gym from 5:00-7:00pm. The first hour will be for the girls and second hour for the boys. There will be no other weekday practices or weekend games. The sessions started January 5th and will run through Feb 23rd. The sessions will not be held on days where kids do not have classes.
Parent support is required for the success of the program. We need volunteer coaches. Advanced preparation is not required as we already have a successful format – you only need to show up and help for one hour. Coaching & basketball experience are also not required but helpful.
Should you have any questions, please send email to Andrew Derksen @ arderksen@gmail.com.
