GM Building Project Update

Dear Green Meadow Community,

I am writing to update you on the blasting process for the site work happening over the next several weeks. Monday, September 30, 2024, is the projected date for the blasting to begin. Attached you will find two documents outlining the process and the safety precautions. The early site contractor, Northern Construction, is working collaboratively with the Maynard Fire Department to ensure the process is safe. We are anticipating daily blasts at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

PROJECT SCHEDULE

▰ Test Blast (Planned September 30th)

▰ Production Blasting (Ongoing daily after test blast)

▰ Estimated Blasting Completion (mid-November 2024)

TYPICAL DAY

▰ 1-2 blasts per day, M-F

▰ Daily blasts will occur at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM. This schedule allows for arrival, drop-off, and daily outdoor recess.

THE BLAST

▰ 30 minutes until blast - All abutters and other, if desired, can be notified with

text or email notification prior to blast. If you would like to be added to this

notification list, please call Esta Falvey, at Northern Construction, at 508-603-5220.

▰ 5 minutes until blast – 3 Long Audible Horn Signal

▰ 1 minute to blast – 2 Short Audible Horn Signal

▰ Blast Occurs

▰ Blast All Clear – 1 Long Audible Horn Signal

During the first few days, we will notify students and staff before each blast. Then we will make an assessment with our Safety Committee to determine whether daily communication is helpful or too disruptive to our school community.
