Labor Day - No School!
September 2-3 are Student Holidays. Enjoy your extended weekend with your family and friends. School resumes on Wednesday, September 4th.
Save the Date! Picture Day is October 8
Picture Day is Tuesday, October 8. On Individual Picture Day, students do not need to follow dress code guidelines. However, students do need to be dressed appropriately for a regular school day. Ball gowns, party shoes, and suits are not practical for children to wear to school.
Dismissal
Thank you for your patience as we navigate the new dismissal system last week. Our goal is to dismiss all students to parents via walkers and carpoolers by 3:20 p.m. There are still students who do not know their own dismissal number yet. Please help us reach our dismissal goal by training your child to memorize his/her dismissal number.
Starting tomorrow, any students who have not been picked up by 3:25 p.m. will need to be picked up through the double doors on Westerloch Dr. As a reminder, you must have a dismissal tag to pick up your child(ren) during dismissal. Please do not get out of your car to buckle your child(ren)'s seat while you are on the carpool lane. Doing so will cause the flow of the dismissal lane to stall and impact all other cars behind you. We encourage you to train your child to buckle their own seatbelt. If necessary, you must move your car out of the carpool lane, and park your car to buckle your child's seat.
Carpool Courtesy
Bush Elementary is not responsible for patrolling the streets and neighborhood in the Bush Elementary zone. However, we can ask for parents to "Be Kind" while waiting for the carpool lane to start moving and once the cars starting moving up in the carpool lane.
Please "Be Kind" when navigating around parked cars. Have your carpool number displayed so the other cars will know that you're not one of the parked cars and won't attempt to pass you. Please stay in your car and be prepared to move once the line starts moving.
Please do not block any entrances to parking lots while stopped and waiting for the carpool lane to begin moving. Also, please allow the cars attempting to enter or exit the West Briar parking lots to do so.
Thank you for doing your part to keep the streets around Bush Elementary safe.

Attendance and Tardies
Good attendance is a good habit to start in elementary school. This is a life long skill that will prepare your child for a successful life by knowing the importance of showing up daily for a commitment whether school or work.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) sets the elementary school attendance goal at 98%.
If your child is sick, has a fever at or above 100, or is vomiting or other intestinal issues, then your child must be at home. Please send your child to school with a note to excuse the absence for illness.
If your child is healthy, then your child must be at school.
Every day your child is healthy and not in school is a lost day of instruction and learning. There are days built into the calendar along with a long summer break for family time and trips. Please look at the school calendar that is in a link below and plan your family time around the breaks.
Did you know just missing 2 days a month of school will add up to missing about 17 days and approximately 10% of the instructional days. Every day counts and attendance matters.
Vacations
Please remember to plan your family vacations and trips during regular school holidays like Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break. Family vacations cannot be considered excused absences by the State of Texas. As a result, they are recorded as unexcused absences. All students must have a 98% attendance rate. Every day at school is important. All students must attend school up to and including the last day on June 4th, 2025.
Early Pick Ups
Please do not plan to pick up your child after 2:30 p.m. from the office. To ensure a safe dismissal, students will not be called to the office to be picked up after 2:30 p.m. Thank you for helping to make dismissal safe for all our students.
VIPS Approved
All adults entering the buildings MUST show a government issued photo identification at the front office every time you enter the building.
If you are coming into the school to volunteer and/or attend field trips. then you must be VIPS approved.
