3rd Grade Field Trip
The 3rd grade students from Steeby Elementary had the amazing opportunity to attend the premiere of Dog Man: The Movie! As Dog Man is a favorite book series among many of our 3rd graders, this was a special event for them to experience the story come to life on the big screen. Students can look forward to comparing and contrasting the movie with the book, diving deeper into the characters, plot, and how the two versions differ. We can’t wait to hear their thoughts and spark some fun discussions in class about this thrilling adventure!
District Solo and Ensemble
Say Congratulations to our 2025 Choir Students from Honors Choir and Select Choirs. They participated in the District Solo and Ensemble on Saturday Feb 1, 2025.
Honors Choir received a rating of a 1 and will be performing at State Solo and Ensemble. Select Choir and the TBB Choir (which is part of the Select Choir) Received a 2 but performed very well and are continuing to polish these pieces for their upcoming concert on Monday, February 10th.
They had 16 groups participate at Solo and Ensemble and 11 will be moving on to States in April. We have amazing performers and great students here at Wayland!

MSBOA Middle School Honors Band and Orchestra
Members of the Middle School Band and Orchestra attended the local MSBOA Middle School Honors Band and Orchestra in Jenison on Saturday, February 1. Members learned several pieces of music on their own to prepare for a day of rehearsals and an evening performance with renowned conductors. They were fortunate enough to premiere a “A Youthful Jubilee”, a commissioned piece by MSBOA for band and orchestra, written and conducted by Rob Grice. Members included (from left to right) Gabe Veldman (7th Band), Jorgia Richardson (7th Band), Joe Carter (7th Band), Emily Shaffer (8th Band), Fatih Jackson (8th Band), Finnigan Schipper (7th Orchestra), and Eli Fifelski (8th Orchestra) (not pictured Kellah VanVugt (8th Orchestra)). Congratulate these fine musicians if you see them!
