We continue to be reassured with how well our country has done at minimising the impacts of COVID-19. Alert Levels 4 and 3 have not been easy and I thank you for your ongoing support for the work we are doing. With today’s news of NO new cases of COVID-19 assists with some who are experiencing anxiety moving into Level 2

As you are aware, the Prime Minister advised that in Alert Level 2 schools are safe environments for children, young people and staff and that additional public health control measures are in place to prevent the spread of disease and to support contact tracing.

The good news is that when we are able to, we will be ready to welcome all students and staff back to our school site.

The key Public Health approach is to minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place, and second to ensure we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone in a school is infected.

As we have done in Alert Level 3, you can be assured that in Alert Level 2 we will know who is at school, who our staff and students have been in close contact with and take appropriate measures to keep everyone safe. We now ask you all as caregivers to assist us at IPS with this process.

Parent Caregiver’s role in assisting with Contact Tracing under L2 at Inglewood Primary School.

• We are welcoming all students back on Monday.

• Parents are welcome to come IN the gate at drop off and pick up, HOWEVER - if you wish to come in the gate then you MUST either, use our contact Tracing App (which is an extension of our School App) to register you are onsite.

OR

• If you do NOT have the ability to download our app, then you are required to log your name on a register in the classroom you are taking your child to.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE IF YOU ARE WANTING TO COME ONSITE.

Please remember to download the School App in readiness for Alerts which we will send to you from time to time.

We would appreciate ALL parents to have this App.

This App is the App which has the extension on it to allow you to register that you are on site.

Further Information for registering that you are onsite will come out before Monday 18 May, so you will know what to do. This is still being developed by the providers.

From Monday 18 May 2020 through to the end of Term 2, we are operating the following hours to accommodate thorough cleaning of surfaces and areas as required under L2.

0830 - Students are welcome to come onsite (parents also if you register)

0855 - Classes start

1425 - Moa iti New Entrants will be released

1430 - IPS Growing Kids to go to Moa iti

1430 - Bus children, to be released from classes to assemble at the Bus Stop

1435 - Children from other classes will be released on a staggered system (eg birthdays etc)

Allocated Staff will be at central points within the school to assist with the exiting of children.

Children who are walking, biking or scootering must go straight home

Parents who are wishing to come onsite to pick up children are welcome, HOWEVER they must use the app to register or have their name recorded on the register in the class area, they are visiting.

At this stage we don't have definite details with regard to our students who attend the Community Childcare Oscar Programme - we will let you know when we know their pick up time.

The grounds should be cleared of students and parents by 1455

Growing Kids will operate from;

0700 - 0830

1430 - 1730

We, as a school are hugely appreciative of Growing Kids NOT charging for the time between 1430 - 1500, in order to allow our early finish.

Please remember to notify the office if your child will be absent from school. Please state your name, child's name and reason for absence each day. Thank you

Healthy Snack

Morning TEa

Lunch

Drink Bottle

If your child has their tote tray or a school device, these need to be returned also on Monday.

If your child received a Hard Materials Pack from MoE, then please send this also

If your child has a brand of sanitiser YOU wish them to use due to allergies etc, please ensure they have that with them also.

If your child needs Medication at school, please make sure they have this with them. However, if they have Restricted Prescription Medication, caregivers need to bring these into our Office and hand them to either Debbie or Mia.

If your child had a school device on loan from our school, please send this back on Monday

If you have received a device from the ministry of Education - these will become the property of the school and these too, need to be sent back to us on Monday.

This is a good precaution to prevent the spread of disease. We do however know it is challenging in schools, so good hygiene practices and regular cleaning are even more important here. This includes staff and students coughing into their elbows, handwashing and drying and regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces. There is a very good song developed by a fellow Principal called “ The Moist Breath Zone” have a look, it is a bit of fun.

Under Alert Level 2, we advise any students are to stay at home if they are sick,.

We will send anyone home immediately if they show any symptoms of being unwell

Our school has safe and sensible practices to maintain the health and safety of everyone on the school site. As described by Dr Payinda in his NZ Herald article, “Covid's not measles or chickenpox, it doesn't hang in the air for hours waiting to infect passers-by. It travels on invisible drops of spit. You don't have to cross the street to avoid anyone. Just avoid getting in their 'moist breath' zone”. We all just need to remember to have some breathing space at Alert Level 2!

It’s important however that not just at school but at home, safe hygiene habits are practised by everyone, as this is essential to minimise the risk that someone gets infected with Covid-19.
