A Message From Mr. Lynch
I hope this message finds you well! I am pleased to share that we had a wonderful week of learning here at school. The students have been engaged and enthusiastic all week long! It’s always a joy to see their curiosity and excitement as they tackle new concepts and challenges in the classroom.
I also want to take a moment to address an important matter that occurred earlier this week. As you are aware, we had to initiate a soft lockdown for a brief period. I want to assure you that everything went smoothly, and the situation was handled with the utmost care and attention to our safety protocols. Our school is essentially always in a soft lockdown mode, as our classroom doors remain locked throughout the day and can only be opened with a key. This is part of our regular safety procedures, ensuring that access to our learning spaces is always controlled and secure. The experience this week validated our practices and reaffirmed that the safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities.
I am grateful for your continued trust in our school, and I want you to know that we are always looking for ways to ensure a safe, nurturing, and productive environment for your children.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to sharing more wonderful learning experiences with you and your children in the weeks to come!
Counselors Corner
Hello Brimfield Families!
We hope this newsletter finds you and your children in good health and high spirits. As we embark on returning for the new year we would like to emphasize the importance of establishing and maintaining healthy routines for both parents and students. Routines are essential for fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring your child's success in school and beyond. In this article, we will share some tips and suggestions to help you build effective routines at home.
Consistent Bedtime: A good night's sleep is crucial for your child's physical and mental well-being. Establishing a consistent bedtime routine helps them wind down and ensures they get enough rest for optimal performance in school. Set a regular bedtime and encourage your child to follow a relaxing routine before bed, such as reading a book or taking a warm bath.
Morning Rituals: Starting the day on the right foot sets a positive tone for the entire day. Encourage your child to establish a morning routine that includes tasks like making their bed, brushing their teeth, and having a healthy breakfast. Allocating enough time for these activities will help your child feel prepared and focused as they head to school.
Homework Time: Designate a specific time and place for your child to complete their homework. Create a quiet and well-lit workspace that is free from distractions. Encourage them to break their homework into manageable tasks and take short breaks in between to maintain focus and avoid burnout. Be available to assist and offer guidance when needed, but encourage your child to take responsibility for their own work.
Healthy Eating Habits: Proper nutrition plays a significant role in your child's overall development and academic performance. Plan and prepare balanced meals that include a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Encourage your child to eat breakfast, pack healthy snacks for school, and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Modeling healthy eating habits yourself can positively influence your child's choices.
Physical Activity: Regular exercise is vital for your child's physical and mental well-being. Encourage your child to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. This can include activities such as biking, swimming, playing sports, or simply going for a walk together. Make physical activity a family affair and find ways to incorporate movement into your daily routines.
Limit Screen Time: Excessive screen time can negatively impact your child's academic performance and overall health. Establish guidelines for screen time and encourage alternative activities such as reading, arts and crafts, or playing board games. Be mindful of the content your child consumes and ensure they have a healthy balance between screen time and other enriching activities.
Remember, building routines takes time and consistency. Start by introducing one routine at a time and gradually add more as your child becomes comfortable. By establishing healthy routines, you are providing a stable and nurturing environment that supports your child's growth and success.
If you have any questions or need further guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school administration. Together, we can help your child thrive academically and personally.

Identification Of children With Disabilities
Identification of Children with Disabilities
The Field Local School district is in the process of locating, evaluating, and identifying children from birth to age 21, residing in the district, who may be entitled to a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), including special education and related aids and services, pursuant to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504).
Children eligible for FAPE under the IDEA are those with disabilities such as Autism,
Multiple Disabilities, Deaf-Blindness, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Speech or Language Impairment, Orthopedic Impairment, Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Impairment, Traumatic Brain Injury or Specific Learning Disability.
Children eligible for FAPE under Section 504 include children who have a physical or
mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity. If you know of a child who may have a disability or a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life activity, or if you would simply like additional information, please contact
Megan Longfellow, Director of Special Services at (330) 673-2659 or email her at megan.longfellow@fieldlocalschools.org

EXTRA CLOTHES!
Parents please make sure that your child has an extra pair of clothes here at school in their locker. Throughout the year accidents/spills/mud happens. It's always good to have a change of clothes ready so we don't have to call you during the work day to bring some up to the school.
Thank you!

PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach designed to foster a positive school climate by encouraging appropriate behavior. It focuses on teaching and reinforcing clear behavioral expectations in a consistent and structured way. PBIS emphasizes prevention rather than punishment, using data to identify and support students who may need additional help. By recognizing and rewarding positive behavior, PBIS aims to improve student engagement, reduce disciplinary issues, and create a more inclusive, respectful learning environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.
At Brimfield Elementary, students help to identify positive expectations and receive incentives for appropriate behavior. Your child may be chosen to participate in the Principal’s Club, receive a red SOAR ticket, or earn a Principal’s Good News call. The staff at Brimfield works hard to use positive words with students. Instead of telling a child to “stop running” in the hallway, the direction might be to “move throughout the halls in a controlled and safe manner”. Thank you, in advance, for partnering with us and using positive statements with your child. We are very proud of our PBIS program and look forward to celebrating the great behavior of our young Falcons!
