October Character Trait of the month is Joy
Students at CCA are focusing on Joy in the month of October. I surveyed three students, Wynn in 4th grade, Teddy in 5th, and Charlee in 6th grade and asked what joy meant to them. Wynn said, “Joy means happiness.” Teddy said, “Joy is smiles.” Charlee said, “Joy is whenever you are happy and when you're excited.” The Christian view of joy is that it is a gift from God, a fruit of the Holy Spirit, and a natural part of the Christian faith. According to summitlife.com, Joy is a choice we must make, where we agree with God, believe God, submit to Him, and rest in Him amid our circumstances. --Miyah
Alumni Spotlight: Lane Reid
This month's alumni spotlight is Lane Reid. Lane attended CCA from his Kindergarten year, 2002, through 8th grade, 2011. He attended CCA before it had a high school, so he stayed as long as he could. Lane attended Clinton High School and after he graduated, he attended college at Missouri State University.
A CCA memory that he will always remember is when he went to Wilson’s Creek Battlefield with his teacher, Mrs. Thornton. He says he will always remember this trip because, “ Mrs. Thornton instilled in him a love for American History, which he still has today.” His two favorite teachers from CCA were Mrs. Thornton and Mr. Bancroft.
A few accomplishments that he has achieved is: marrying the love of his life and being blessed with two baby boys! Lane is currently living in Clinton with his family and his two beagles, Tucker and Pumpkin and his black cat, Floki. He also works at Aviation Fabricators! --Carissa

Devotion Corner
Joy Devotion
This week's devotion about Joy is from “My Utmost for His Highest” called: “My Joy… Your Joy,” which is based on the Bible verse: John 15:11, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”

Class Spotlight: Spanish I
Sophia observed Spanish I last week to find out what they’ve been learning recently. Students were reviewing their Bible verse in Spanish when I entered the class. Afterwards, Mrs. Ramirez talked to the class about their upcoming field trip and how they will see different foods from Latin America. Students are starting a new unit on running and walking. They recited their Bible verse, one by one, in Spanish, for Mrs. Ramirez. She asked them what the weather was like outside, and students responded to her in Spanish. She then asked students what clothes they would wear during that specific weather, and they answered. Students listened to a Spanish song at the end of class.
Survey Says:
This week we interviewed 52 CCA students to find out if they enjoy coffee drinks or sonic drinks more. Sonic drinks won with a total of 38 votes, while coffee drinks had only 14 votes. Fun Fact: 3 million customers go to sonic in a day. –Brooklyn
Chapel
Chapel on Friday was opened by Mrs. Lanning's first grade class with pledges to the American Flag, Christian flag and Bible. All in attendance sang, "America the Beautiful," and Cole led us in prayer. Kevin McMenemy from First Baptist Church came to talk to us about the Operation Christmas Child.“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14, ESV
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local churches worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations. CCA will collect shoeboxes until November 15th. Two detailed emails have been sent to parents about this ministry; one on October 25th and the other just this morning, October 28th. Let's share the good news of Jesus by packing a shoebox! --Jacob

CCA hosts 1st Pep Rally of the School Year
CCA hosted the first pep rally of the school year on Wednesday to commemorate state athletes. All students attended, K4 through 12th grades. The varsity athletes lined up in the lobby, and as they were announced players ran out into the gym. Audrey explained what our game would be. We had to lay on top of a scooter and crawl across the gym floor using two plungers. The soccer team went against the volleyball team in this game, and whoever got their whole team down and back first, was deemed the winner. The soccer team was victorious! After the game, cheerleaders performed their new cheer routine to the song "Praise" by Brandon Lake. Afterwards, individual classes yelled for the spirit award. The 5th graders won for lower school, and the Juniors/Seniors won for upper school. JD Manning prayed over the volleyball and soccer teams, and students were dismissed back to class. If you missed it, the pep rally was streamed live on the CCA Facebook page. --Allie

Clinton Attack answered back in the third set and won 15-4. In the second game, CCA fought hard and played very well, but sadly fell short as Clinton Attack took the win in 2 sets. The first set was 25-23, and the second set was 26-24. These two games completed the 5th and 6th grade volleyball season for the Lady Patriots. The girls learned a lot about the game, improved each and every game and have much to be proud of this season. –Maggie
MCSAA State Soccer Varsity Soccer Action:
The CCA Soccer team was in action this past weekend at the MCSAA state tournament in Joplin, MO. On Saturday, October 26th, Patriots Varsity Soccer played Eagle Ridge from Cape Girardeau for their 3rd and final game of the MCSAA Soccer tournament in Joplin. This was the 2nd time CCA faced them in the tournament; the first game resulted in a Patriots loss in double overtime.
The winner of this game would take the 3rd place, Division II state title. Both the Patriots and Eagles were evenly matched. This was a very offensive game for the Patriots, as they had several shots on goal. The resulting score was 0-0 at the end of regulation.
This game, just like the first, went to double overtime; however, the Patriot’s defense was on par, and no team was able to score, so the game ended with a shoot out. Hadley, CCA’s goalie, stopped the first kick the Eagles attempted. Collin missed his shot, but the Eagles scored. Parker then scored for CCA, and the Eagles scored again. Colten & Mason both scored. The very intense game ended with an overtime score of 3-2 Patriots victory. Following the Soccer game, the MCSAA Joplin tournament awards were given. Congratulations to 1st team- Colten and 2nd team- Collin, Mason, and Matthew. Congratulations on your 3rd Place State finish. –Brooklyn

Senior Fundraising
Our 2025 CCA Seniors are raising money for their senior trip which is partly a mission trip and partly a fun trip. They will be going to southeast Georgia to work in a food pantry, and Christian camp for foster children.
This year, our seniors also have an opportunity to go on CCA's very first out of country mission trip to Belize. Money raised will first go towards the Senior trip to Georgia/Florida but we have hope that if enough money is raised it will cover some of the cost to their Belize trip.
Orders have been placed for the Laundry Soap fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported our seniors by purchasing.
CCA Seniors also sell homemade cookies every Thursday morning! Students love this! Just $1
The CCA Seniors will have a Yard Sale in November. Mrs. Hyke will send out more information later but please fill free to save and donate your yard sale items to them to sell!
Thank you so so much for all the love, prayers and support!

Fellowship of Christian Athletes
On October 21st another FCA meeting was held at FCA sponsor, Jeff and Kim Adams' house. Many from Clinton High School and CCA attended. Jeff gave the lesson titled "Renew." A Renew in sports is "A new mindset." Clearing your mind to have a new look on the situation you are in. Saquon Barkley, a running back for Philadelphia Eagles, was used as an example. Instead of breaking his record, Saquon told his coach, "let the young boys eat." Saquon was focused on his younger teammates having more playing time than him breaking a record, being a selfless teammate. All things we do should be to glorify and praise God, because He provided us with everything that helped us get where we are today. 1 Peter 1:3 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead," which means the Lord has given us a new hope in Christ. The night was ended with fellowship and cookies. -Brooklyn
