On Thursday, August 29th, and Friday, August 30th, during Eagle Time, students got the opportunity to visit Leyden's first-ever Student Activities Fair. At the fair, they learned more about the activities that are offered at West Leyden.

The following students completed the Adventure Awaits 'treasure map' and were chosen in a raffle drawing to win Leyden swag:

Remember: Leyden offers so many opportunities to get involved, including joining clubs, attending special events, participating in spirit days, volunteering in the community, and much more.

West Leyden has over 60 clubs, including: academic, cultural, general interest, honors, music / performing arts, and service. You can always check the West Leyden Student Activities calendar or email the club sponsor for more information.

You may see some new Leyden Eagles walking the halls or sitting in your classes! 26 students & 2 teachers from Northern Italy will be spending almost 2 weeks at Leyden. The Italian students will spend some days shadowing students and other days exploring Chicago.

If you see any of the Italian students in the hallways, stop and say "Ciao"!

Do you like to dance and perform on stage? Join the Fine Arts Dance Troupe, Orchesis, as they kick off their new season on Monday Sept 9th @ 3:10 pm in the East Auditorium & West Dance Studio. All are welcome!

Highlights this year include:

✨Giordano Choreography Project - learn an original piece from professional dancer Analysse Vance this fall, and perform it in a showcase alongside 14 other high school dance teams in January.

✨Student Choreography Competition - get your friends together and submit your own original dance to the Illinois High School Dance Festival.

✨Leyden Fine Arts Dance Showcase - open auditions to perform on stage here at Leyden.

✨Field Trips to workshops and professional dance company performances.

Leyden is looking for students who want to be the mascot at different events! If interested, complete this application by the end of the day on Friday, September 13th. Finalists will be chosen from all applicants for an interview as part of the selection process. Good luck, and Goooo, Eagles!
