The first day of Semester 2 will be Monday February 5th. It is exiting times when students and teachers begin to for new relationships and tackle learning in new subject areas.

Students can find their schedule in Aspen. Students who cannot access Aspen will receive a schedule from their first period teacher. A list of students and first period teacher can be found in the front foyer.

We are in in the process of collecting course requests for next year. Many students have already submitted their sheets and are now able to view their requests on Aspen. We encourage both parents and students to check requests for accuracy. Login to Aspen (change to "full site" if on phone), MyInfo (top tab), Requests (side Tab)

The choices that students make now determine which courses will be available to students, so it is vital that students make their best decisions and submit accurate requests.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Recent changes to courses from the Ministry of Education and a significant increase in online learning course options (or eLearning) may mean that some students will wish to change their choices. This can be done by submitting a new course selection sheet or by meeting with a guidance teacher.

Students and families are encouraged to review the updated Graduation Diploma Requirements as they plan for a successful high school career. It is important to note that students required 2 online learning courses to graduate. Additionally, students entering grade 9 next year will be required to have a grade 9 or 10 technology credit in their transcript.

In the upcoming weeks, our guidance teachers will be meeting with students who have not submitted choices to ensure that everyone has complete and accurate course requests.

To support pathway planning, there will be a Postsecondary Fair on February 14th 9:00AM-12:00PM where we will have college, university and apprenticeship representatives available to answer questions.

We are very excited to announce the return of a Yearbook Club at Eastside Secondary. Students are working with Ms. Murray to create an 80 page memoir of the 2023-24 school year.

Eastside Secondary School has an active School Council that consists of parents, staff, students, and community members. Meetings are held regularly. The team works together as an advisory group to support excellent programming and to foster ongoing school improvement.
