Friday, Dec 20th is our class party day! In order to facilitate safe and efficient check-in and check-out processes, please follow the procedures below.

Your child will bring home a green check-in ticket and a red check-out ticket. These are vital to the procedures, so if you forget them at home, you'll have to stand in line at the office with ID which is a slower process. (Thank you for remaining patient and friendly with the office staff who will be working diligently to assist you in a timely manner!)

Check-In

• The parent/guardian writes the name/s of the guests that will be attending the party.
• The party guests present the ticket upon arrival on campus, are given event badges, and head to the party!

Check-Out (This applies only if your student is checking out from school early on the party day.)

• The parent/guardian completes the red ticket by naming the adult with whom the student will be leaving from the party. This adult MUST be listed in the child's Skyward account. The student will not be allowed to leave with an adult listed who is not on the child's Skyward account.
• Send the red ticket back to school by Monday, December 16th for pre-approval.

Last Week's ADA for SGE: 93.32%

ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. Check out SGE's ADA trends in the chart above.

"98 IS Great!" We'll celebrate as a campus when we hit a week with 98% attendance!

We recognize that illnesses and events take place that necesitate absences, however, we do encourage every student to be in school every day he/she is able. Let's work for 98%!

We have two new Leader of the Pack recipients to honor!

Blayke took the initiative to tidy up the classroom by picking up items and pushing in chairs while her class was taking a restroom break! Way to serve your classmates!

Peyton's class was learning about voting in social studies. The class held a mock election to determine which snack Mrs. Craig should bring for the class on Friday. Peyton stood up and offered to contribute his $1 towards the snack. Way to be generous!

Academics + Character = Success

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Texas Education Code (§38.003) mandates that all first grade students be screened for dyslexia and related disorders no later than January 31, 2025. Prior to screening, all BCISD students receive instructional intervention through the Benchmark Phonics Program. The screening is designed to ensure that all students are appropriately screened, and if necessary, are evaluated further so that reading difficulties will be addressed in a timely manner. The results from the screening will be used to guide instruction at the classroom level, shared with you, and used to determine if additional interventions are required for your student.

SGE is proud to recognize Allie Scott as the Gem of Appreciation for the positive impact she makes on our campus! She teaches 2nd grade and serves as the 2nd grade Team Lead. She is noticed and appreciated by many for her positivity and collaborative attitude. She is always up for new ideas to get the students excited about learning and goes the extra mile to do special things for our kids. This year, Ms. Scott joined the campus Lighthouse Committee and helps lead Culture initiatives. Most recently, she took the reins in coordinating the SGE Fall Carnival which required numerous hours spent contacting donors, planning booths, assigning jobs, and considering all of the little details to help facilitate a successful event. Ms. Scott is always ready to lend a hand and approaches every task with enthusiasm and reliability. Ms. Scott is committed to growing a vibrant culture, and she undeniably makes SGE a brighter place!

Our annual "Marley Christmas," hosted by Darlene Denton and Quest HS students, will be held on Dec 17the, 18th, and 19th. During this event, Mrs. Denton leads storytime with A VERY MARLEY CHRISTMAS, a book about "a lovable pup with a nose for trouble," students will spend some time interacting with two live dogs!

If your child has allergies or a fear of a dog, please let your teacher know so we can plan a different activity for him/her.

Our Lost & Found is growing! Remind your kiddo to check the racks if he/she is missing outerwear!

Parents, if you're on campus for party day, it would be a great time for you to check also!

We'll have Christmas characters for morning drop-off on December 20th. There will likely be an or two on a fire truck! If you see red flashing lights on Friday morning, do not be alarmed. We're just having a little fun with the kids!

Please see the map and follow the procedure outlined below regarding the car pick-up line:

Form one, single-file line on CR 200. Once off of CR 200, you may merge to either the PK/Kinder lane (yellow arrows) or the 1st/2nd grade lane (blue arrows).

If accessing the parking lot, drive past the delineators and enter the driveway via the fire lane (red arrows).

Some drivers are passing the single-file line of cars and entering the driveway via the fire lane for the purpose of cutting into the 1st/2nd grade line. Not only is this unfair to the parents who are waiting in line, it creates a safety concern because these cars are creating a second line, double stacking and blocking traffic heading east on County Road 200.

Include the following details in the email:

• Student’s full name
• Student’s grade level
• Student’s homeroom teacher
• The transportation change you want made for today (bus rider to car rider or car rider to bus rider)

Requests made after 1:30pm will not be processed. Notes, phone calls, text messages and emails sent to any other email will not be processed.
