Dear Friends
August 3, 2021
Important family message
Families –
We want to continue to keep you updated as we prepare for the return of all students to be in-person all day, five days per week this fall. We are excited that students will be in their classrooms with their teachers and peers.
Masks/face coverings
Last week, Governor Inslee’s office, the Washington State Department of Health, and the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction stated that when school opens this fall, all students, staff and visitors are required to wear masks/face coverings in our schools and buildings regardless of their vaccination status. This mandate closely aligns with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Academy of Pediatrics, who have strongly recommended universal wearing of masks/face coverings.
Important dates
- Monday, August 16 - Our high school, middle and elementary school offices will open to the public.
- Thursday, September 2 - Skyward/Family Access will be open at 6 p.m. for viewing teacher assignments, student schedules, food service information and other important information. Remote option
As noted, our district is planning for the return of all students to be in-person all day, five days per week this fall. For those families of elementary students who are looking to continue with a remote option for their student, we will offer a self-guided home school option through our Parent Partnership Program (PPP) located at our Parkway Campus (525 13th Street in Snohomish). At the middle and high school grades, a remote option will not be offered during the 2021-2022 school year. Our partial in-person PPP program and AIM High School options will continue to remain available to these grade levels. You can learn more about each of these options by reaching out to Principal Doug Plucker at ppp@sno.wednet.edu or (360) 563-3403.
Within the coming days and weeks leading up to the start of school, please watch for specific details from your child’s school regarding the above information. In addition, more information is available on our school and district websites (www.sno.wednet.edu). Thank you, and we are excited to see you in a few weeks!

Is your child is up-to-date on required state immunizations?
Every student enrolled/registered in school or childcare in the state of Washington must have medically verified immunization records on file with the school in which they are enrolled/registering. Please take the coming weeks to check with your child's physician to make sure your student is up-to-date on all their required immunizations. Medically verified immunization records include one or more of the following:
- A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) printed from the Immunization Information System (IIS)
- A physical copy of the CIS form with a healthcare provider signature
- A physical copy of the CIS form with accompanying medical immunization records from a healthcare provider verified and signed by school staff
- A CIS printed from MyIR
- It now requires medically verified immunization records for school and childcare entry.
- It clarifies conditional status in regard to school and child care immunization requirements and implementation.
- It changes the Tdap immunization requirement to 7th through 12th grades.

- Keep up to date through Facebook - Today, 10,000 Facebook fans receive regular district updates through our district's Facebook page - www.facebook.com/snohomishschooldistrict. This site is just one of many ways we communicate with our students, staff, families and community. Although we are aware of other Facebook pages, please note that this is the only verified Facebook page of the Snohomish School District and is where official information is posted.
School Messenger - Our district uses the School Messenger automated system as a tool for communication with our parents, families and staff. School Messenger works with the district’s student-data system (Skyward/Family Access) to notify families and staff through phone and/or email of emergencies, critical school and district messages, school/district closures, inclement weather, attendance issues, underfunded student meal accounts and other events/activities. The overall goal of using this service is for parents and families to receive critical information about Snohomish schools - especially information that affects their children - in a timely manner. As long as we have accurate primary phone numbers and email addresses on record for our students in Skyward/Family Access, families should automatically receive these messages when they are sent out. Please make sure this information is accurate when reviewing your student’s demographic information that is distributed closer to the start of school.
