Dear Judson ISD Family:
Every Judson ISD employee is a leader in the effort to make our mission a reality. We believe leaders in our district treat everyone well, plan for success, and invest in people.
For this week's message I have asked one of our cabinet members to share how here, at Judson ISD, we Invest in People by having a Growth Mindset.
Our Leadership Definition: From the Desk of Mr. Daniel Brooks
As educators, it’s imperative that we not only foster a culture of learning within our schools but also embody the principles of growth mindset ourselves. As Assistant Superintendent, I firmly believe that modeling and nurturing a growth mindset among leaders is essential for creating an environment where both students and staff can thrive.
First and foremost, leaders must lead by example. Demonstrating a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow sets the tone for the entire organization. Whether it’s embracing new teaching methods, seeking feedback from colleagues, or pursuing professional development opportunities, leaders must show that they are committed to their own continuous improvement.
Furthermore, leaders have a responsibility to cultivate a growth mindset in others. This means providing support and encouragement, as well as creating opportunities for growth and development. By offering constructive feedback, celebrating successes, and emphasizing the importance of perseverance and resilience, leaders can inspire those around them to adopt a similar mindset.
Additionally, leaders can help build a growth mindset by reframing challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. Rather than viewing setbacks as failures, encourage individuals to see them as valuable learning experiences. By emphasizing the process of learning and improvement, rather than just the outcome, leaders can help cultivate a mindset that values effort and persistence.
In conclusion, fostering a growth mindset among leaders is essential for creating a culture of learning and continuous improvement within our schools. By modeling this mindset ourselves and actively working to cultivate it in others, we can create an environment where everyone is empowered to reach their full potential. Together, let’s embrace the journey of lifelong learning and growth.
Hopkins Little Library
What is a Little Locker? Similar to a ‘Little Library’, students and community members can visit any of our Little Lockers and borrow a book to read. Each locker is filled with books throughout the year and crafts through the extended breaks. This program is free to the campus, district, and community. TEXAS YES will supply all books, crafts, maintenance, and support for the Little Lockers.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Spring Meadows Elementary, along with other JISD schools, are actively participating in the city-wide child abuse prevention initiative and have created their own cardboard kids.
April 4th was the reveal day for Cardboard Kids as they aim to raise awareness within the community about the issue of child abuse and the importance of protecting all children.
Thank you to all the staff and students who participated in this campaign.

Judson ISD is a proud home to a large number of military families. Since April is the Month of the Military Child, we sit down with Isabella Sifuentes, a senior at Veterans Memorial High School, whose mom is a SMSgt in the United States Air Force.
Month of the Military Child – Judson ISD goes Purple!!
April is the Month of the Military Child. Judson ISD honors, celebrates and pays tribute to the district’s youngest heroes. These children are committed and make numerous sacrifices, while wholeheartedly supporting their military member parents.
The Judson ISD Board of Trustees signed a proclamation for the Month of the Military Child at the March school board meeting, indicating the tip-off of our month-long celebrations.
Across the nation, states and school districts are celebrating the important role military children play while their service member parents serve our country through special events and wearing the color purple.
Here at Judson ISD, we are “1 Home 1 Family”. Together, we can make a difference and demonstrate to our military-connected students that they matter.
Send us your photos of your campus or departments joining ranks by recognizing our “heroes” and wearing the purple for “Purple Up Day.”

Help Nelly Marquez become America’s Favorite Teacher!
Nelly Marquez, Teacher Wortham Oaks Elementary, is in the running for America's Favorite Teacher. Learn more about Nelly down below!
What is your favorite part of being an educator?
My favorite part of being a teacher is walking the halls of our campus and listening to students having conversations about the fun learning in my class. Hearing the positive impact I am having on our future outshines all the bad days that come my way.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience.
I have a hunger for learning and when I "get" something, my confidence soars thru the roof into another dimension in space. So when one of my special education students ask to teach a skill or concept that they have grasped beyond others in the class and extremely confident in their mastery- this tops the cake. It is the icing and all the additional sprinkles. Motivating and seeing students reach the unthinkable makes my moments in the classroom more than memorable.
