Principal's Update
Hello everyone. I really hope that you are all enjoying the start of the summer holidays. It has been a wonderful end to another super year at PJP. We have seen our school really come back to life and were thrilled to mark all the different achievements of our wonderful students with the whole school coming together on the yard on the 24th June.
This year we saw new clubs and teams being formed; our first ever Hurling and Camogie Teams as well as Dungeons and Dragons club organsied by some superb students.
We saw our senior boys and girl and our junior girls win the Fingal League. We had great successes in soccer and basketball too.
The school earned their second Amber Flag for Mental Health /Wellbeing.
The Student Council were awarded the UNICEF Bronze Award as part of the ‘Child Rights Programme’. They progress to year two now.
The Coiste na Gaeilge were awarded the ‘Teastas’ for completing year 1 of the Gaelbhratach Irish programme and go forward to work towards the Irish flag for next year!
We had five very special First Holy Communion Days and three days for our Confirmations.
Our sixth class students worked very hard with their teachers and PJP had their First ever school musical; The Sound of Music!
What an amazing year - well done to all!
The best of luck to Ms. Hanly, Ms. Hannon and Ms. Kieran as they begin their maternity leaves. We wish Ms. Martin the best of luck with her forthcoming wedding and we look forward to welcoming back Ms. O'Donnelan from her career break next September.
Have a wonderful summer everyone and we look forward to having everyone back on the 31st August!
Ms. O'Brien Retires
We would like to wish Ms. O'Brien all the very best as she retires from PJP. She has taught here for over twenty years. She has worked with over 600 students. She will be sorelyt missed from the staff but we wish her many happy and healthy years of retirement. We suspect that Ms.Markey will have her back subbing before too long!
School Tour Season
2nd Class - Let's Go in DCU
First we got on the bus and drove to Let’s Go in DCU. When we got there we did Archery and the Tug o’ War. After, we went to get our bags for lunch. Then we went on Air Mountain. I was trying so hard not to fall off. After that we went to the Disco Dome and I was bouncing off the walls. Then we did Rock Climbing. I did not manage to get to the top. Next, we did the Wobble Ladder. I climbed on it upside down. Then we went in the Zorb balls. Myself and Joseph went in the red ball together two times. It was super cool! Finally, we went to the wrecking ball. I didn’t get knocked off but I did get hit in the nose. I was okay though! I sat beside Oisín on the bus on the way home and I fell asleep. It was an awesome school tour.

3rd Class - National Aquatic Centre
For our school tour, we went to Sports Ireland Campus and AquaZone at the National Aquatic Centre. There were big slides and a lazy river and in the sport centre there was gymnastics and relays. Our favourite parts were the water slides and the lazy rivers. We were there for around six hours. The bus was so loud! While we ate our lunch, we watched other people do the relays. It was a great school tour and we had so much fun!

4th Class - Emerald Park
The Viking Voyage and the Cú Chulainn proved the most popular!
The lack of Tayto crisps for the journey home didn’t put a dampener on spirits as the buses were filled with song and laughter!
5th Class - W5 in Belfast

When we arrived, Ms Millar's did the water inflatable first and Ms. Bradshaw's did Ziplining. we had our lunch and swapped activites and got the bus home at 2.10pm and we all had ana amzing time!

Camogie season ends in defeat in Croke Park
After an amazing unbeaten season and a comprehensive semi-final victory, the PJP Camogie team qualified for the Cumann na mBunscol Corn Olly Quinlan final against St. Attractas Senior National School.
The atmosphere in Croke Park was electric as thousands of children and supporters flowed in and out during the day including a large contingent of PJP fans. PJP got off to a perfect start as full-forward Amber Costello opened the scoring with a well taken goal following a goal mouth scramble just 3 minutes into the game. St. Attractas settled after this and returned with 2 goals and 2 points to take a comforatble lead. As the half progressed, every single PJP player gave their all in the sweltering Croke Park heat. Orlaith Reilly scored a point to get us on the scoreboard again. Eva-Healy Dillon soon did what she has done in every match this year scoring a rocket of a goal after a blistering run from Midfield. St. Attractas finished the half with a final point to leave them with a 2 - 3 to 2 - 1 lead. This was the first time PJP had trailed at half time all year but the girls attitudes were impeccable. The girls told themselves that they believed in each other and knew they could get back into the game.
Eva opened the second half scoring with a point to give PJP the belief and confidence we needed. Three St. Attractas points on teh bounce unfortyunately was enough to see off our challenge as the game slipped out of reach. Another Orlaith Reilly point would only be a consolation in the end as St Attractas got to lift the trophy with a 2-6 to 2-3 victory.
Losing is a big part of sport and it is never easy. The girls from the camogie team deserve a lot of credit as they built each other up and reminded themselves of how amazing their year had been and the memories they will have for the rest of their lives of playing in Croke Park.

Poetry Corner
Goldfish by Rose Delahunty
Slowly swimming silently on
How long have you spent here?
How much time has gone?
Circles, circles, swimming paces
Do you dream of open spaces?
Of wind, of waves, of unsterilised water?
And the slightest chance of you getting slaughtered?
But wait!
What is this you spy?
Out of the corner of your unblinking eye?
It's soft, It's creamy-brown.
And it flows to the floor
Of your underwater town.
It's food!
It's food!
Wonderful food!
All of a sudden you're in a better mood.
And for once you feel
that you are glad,
And not at all mad
At this place
that maybe
isn't so bad.
