FRES Recognition at BOE Meeting
Dear Fields Road Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news regarding Fields Road Elementary School's outstanding performance in literacy instruction.
This past week, I had the honor of representing Fields Road ES before the Board of Education, where I had the privilege of presenting information about our school's exemplary practices in literacy instruction. I am thrilled to announce that Fields Road ES has been recognized as one of the top-performing schools in the district for early literacy skills, as assessed by the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS).
Our district has set an ambitious goal of having 81.9 percent of K-2 students performing at or above proficiency on the DIBELS assessment, and I'm delighted to report that this past spring, we achieved a remarkable 77.5 percent. We are incredibly close to reaching our district's target, and this achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work of the Fields Road staff.
I want to emphasize that this success is the result of a collective effort involving our exceptional K-2 teachers, paraeducators, core team, special education and ELD teachers, as well as our other dedicated staff members. It is their commitment and passion for fostering early literacy skills that have brought us to the brink of meeting our district's goal.
While we acknowledge this significant milestone, we also understand that our work is far from over. Fields Road ES remains steadfast in its commitment to providing our students with the best possible education and ensuring their continued growth in literacy skills. This accomplishment serves as a moment to reflect on the dedication of our entire school community.
Please join us in celebrating the hard-working staff at Fields Road Elementary School for their exceptional contributions to our students' success in early literacy. Together, we are making a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, and I am confident that we will continue to strive for excellence in the years to come.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to sharing more positive updates with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Erica Williams

MCPS Schools Implement Remind, A New Communication Tool
What Is the Remind App?
Remind is a messaging platform that will be used to communicate among MCPS schools, teachers, students and parents. School staff, central office staff, students and parents will all have Remind accounts to enable them to send and/or receive messages using a preferred mode of communication, such as text message, email or phone call and in their preferred language.
When and How Will My School Use it?
By winter break, schools will be transitioning to and regularly using the Remind app. When your school makes this transition, parents and older students will receive a text message or email notification from the teacher(s).
For Parents
Parents can log into their Remind account via the web or using the Remind app.
For Students
Students 13 and older will be able to reply to teachers’ messages. All students can log into their Remind account via the web using the Log in to Google option, which uses their MCPS Google apps credentials. Students 13 and older who have a mobile phone can download the Remind app and log in using the “Log in to Google” option as well.
