Principal's Note
Hello Millis Small School Big Family,
WELCOME MAY!!
We had a busy week at the Middle School this week. Gearing up for end of year, we have six weeks to go and the months of May and June will be filled with lots of events and activities.
On Thursday, May 2nd our 8th graders took a field trip to Boston. They visited the State House and met many members of the legislature. We were so proud of their curiosity, respect and cooperation. After lunch everyone was able to enjoy watching the Red Sox play baseball at Fenway Park. The weather was wonderful and it was a fantastic outing! Thank you to our dedicated grade 8 teachers for coordinating such a great experience for our students.
Our eighth grade teachers are making arrangements for their completion festivities. Please review emails from Mrs. Shepardson and Mrs. Monaghan detailing the events of Class Day and luncheon, the evening promotion ceremony 6PM in our gymnasium, and the dance from 7-9 PM all on Thursday, June 13th. We are excited to celebrate with you all!
Please save the date of Thursday, June 13th for class day, the completion ceremony and the dance!
Grade 8 Field Trip to Boston
Millis Grade Eight Students toured the Massachusetts State House on Thursday, May 2. They experienced what they have been learning in Civics class this year. They saw the House and Senate Chambers and connected with our elected officials. After lunch, they attended STEM Day at Fenway and watched a Red Sox game.
Millis hosted the Five-Town Special Olympics at our school this year!
The Special Olympics was held on campus with a huge welcoming to all the athletes from our student body and staff from CFB, Millis Middle and Millis High Schools. What a huge honor it was for us! We are so proud of all the athletes, they did a such an amazing job. Wow!!

We had Kaleb Joseph speak on May 2nd
Self Help Tour Founder
Kaleb Joseph
As part of our ongoing Millis Public Schools Speaker Series, we had the pleasure of hosting Kaleb Joseph on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7pm, in the MHS/MMS auditorium, for a special parent presentation. He is the founder of the Self Help Tour and a Mental Health Advocate. Kaleb has recently been featured by a number of local and regional media outlets for his impactful presentation, and thanks to a generous grant from the KyleCares Foundation.
A native of Nashua, NH, who attended Cushing Academy, Kaleb Joseph was one of the nation's top basketball point guard recruits. He went on to play college basketball for his dream school, Syracuse University, but the pressure and expectations of college basketball led him down a dark path of anxiety and addiction. During this powerful parent session on May 2nd, Kaleb will interact with parents to show them how to build deeper connections and relationships with their kids. He equips parents with the tools to manage their kids through all the ups and downs of being a young person. He talked about the importance of leaning into vulnerability to really strengthen relationships with their children.
