May Newsletter: Message from Dr. Fay & Ms. Henson
Dear Crossroads Community,
It has been an amazing school year! Crossroads has grown a lot over the year with new students and families enrolling. Even with all of our growth we still feel like a small school where we work very hard to provide a safe, comfortable environment for our students to learn and our staff to work. Thank you to everyone who helps to make Crossroads a wonderful school for all!
Last week the Wentzville School District held its annual Film Festival. Congratulations to all of our winners. Be PROUD!

5th Grade parents, I will be sending you a separate email soon about our end of the year activities, such as the 5th Grade BBQ and our Clap Out on the last day of school.
Please encourage your students to finish the next four weeks with determination and grit.
Have a marvelous May!

Message From Nurse Maddie
End of the Year Housekeeping
All medications in the nurse’s office will need to be picked up by the last day of school May 30, 2024. According to district policy, medication cannot be sent home with a student. If your child’s medication(s) are not picked up by the last day of school they will be disposed of.
Thank you for your time and cooperation in making the end of this school year run smoothly. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse at AmandaWhiteaker@wsdr4.org.
Looking Ahead
The end of the school year is approaching and we’re already starting to plan for your student’s
arrival in the fall. I know many kids will be going for their yearly check ups over break and want you to be able to get forms you may need for next year. If your student is in need of medication at school or needs an action plan I have attached links to the forms for your student’s doctor to fill out. Even if you want your student to be able to have over the counter medication please have them fill out a form. You can have your office fax it over to 636-445-5324, can be emailed to me at amandawhiteaker@wsdr4.org, or brought at the start of the school year.

PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
We had a fantastic turnout at our Town Square Pub & Grub Dining Night last month! Thank you to everyone who supported the event. We hope to see you for our next dining event on May 15 from 11am – 9pm. We are partnering with Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy Store, That Burger Joint and Woodgrain Neapolitan Pizzeria for our next event. You can visit any, or all, of the restaurants, all day long, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Crossroads. As we know, Crossroads families turn out in big numbers for these events so the restaurants do ask that if you plan to go, you rsvp at the link below so that they can adequately prepare. It’s easy and only takes a moment.

Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We sent home bright yellow car tags with all students on their first day of school. Please check with the office if you need a car tag. ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the bright yellow car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 p.m. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 p.m. is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 p.m. to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no.
Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We no longer send a text message about rainy day dismissals.
The expectation is all parents will have the bright yellow car tags ready to go by August 23.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:
