Spring Student Choice Concert
Congratulations to all of our student performers for their wonderful performances at the Spring Student Choice Concert! All of the groups sounded amazing, and the concert was a true testament as to how talented our students are.
Thank you to all of the volunteers and families that volunteered and donated to make the night possible. A special thanks to our CIMA Members including Shannon Ransom, Joe Russell, Lesli & Luke Gallagher, Amanda Malicki, Stasi McAteer, and Diana & Miguel Espinoza for all their work with CIMA for the past two (or more, for some of you!) years and for their many hours putting together the amazing auction, concessions, and formal photos. Also thank you to Donna St. Clair, our teacher volunteers who chaperoned our students, our sound engineer, Prentice St. Clair, and our principal, Mr. Kupper for his incredible support of music at CMS.
Finally I would also like to thank you, the parents, for your support and encouragement. Together we all raised over $4,000.00 for Correia music at this event!
Music Photos
Thanks to everyone who bought photos at the concert this week! If you missed yours, they will be available at awards next week or in the band room. Please bring $10 cash to Mr. Dwyer or Ms. St. Clair so they can give you your photo. We have now sent out digitals to those who ordered as well. If you ordered but did not get yours please email Lesli if you still want to order a digital, do the same!
Events This Week
May 28, 3:00pm | Student Awards and Year-End Celebration
We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate the many successes of our talented students this year. It has been an amazing year, and there is A LOT to celebrate! We want you to be a part of this joyous occasion. Many of our students will be receiving individual awards, and we hope all of our students and their families can attend to show support and share in the celebration. The ceremony will conclude with a Year in Review Slide Show followed by an Ice Cream Party! We then hope that you will join us for our final Family Gathering at Dave & Busters...
May 28, 5:00-8:00pm | Year End Family Gathering at Dave & Busters, Mission Valley
It is hard to believe that the end of the year is already upon us! After our traditional end-of-year award awards ceremony at Correia, please bring your family to gather, eat, and keep the celebration going at Dave & Busters in Mission Valley from 5-8pm.
If you pre-ordered game cards, they will be available for pick-up at Dave & Busters when you arrive. If you did not, it's not too late! You may still purchase cards at the venue from our servers which, along with any food purchased, will send a 20% donation back to CIMA.
So, come on out and celebrate with your Correia Music Family one final time this year!

PLHS Updates for Rising 9th Graders
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
Starting High School is exciting and a little scary, and continuing in Music is a great way to acclimate quickly to the new environment while guaranteeing your child will make friends right away! As Mr. Dwyer pointed out at the concert, a Visual and Performing Arts credit is required for graduation, so earning that credit while doing something you're already good at is a great choice. PLHS Music students are a diverse, inclusive, and FUN group, with a strong social structure and supportive environment for all. It is not too late to switch into a Music class and/or Marching Band for PE credit - contact Mr. Dwyer or Vanguard.Parent@gmail.com if you need help!
There's an awesome community of parents who support the students and program, while having a lot of good times together at football games, competitions, parades, and more (it's a great excuse to spend more time with your teenager!). Music kids have many scholarship opportunities, and tend to get into great universities and colleges, thanks to the leadership qualities and discipline that music instills.
We hope to welcome you ALL into the PLHS Music Family next year!!
Please request to join our Music Boosters Facebook group and see more details on our information flyer here, including important info for signing up to get emails over the summer from PLHS.
Don't Forget! Those in marching band this fall should plan for your student to be at band camp every day from 9am to 5 pm, the week before school starts (August 5-9)! (\Watch for emails with orientation info - band students will have a special day to show up. No prior experience is required to be in marching band or color guard, nor need your student play a traditional "marching band" instrument - we find something to play for everyone who wants to participate.
