OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Palmer Catholic Academy of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church provides a Catholic and Christ-centered educational environment that inspires all students to reach their full spiritual and academic potential and become responsible, respectful, and reverent disciples of Christ.
Dear PCA Families,
I hope you had a great weekend! We have a busy few weeks ahead before we break for Christmas.
Many families have asked about Christmas presents for staff. Our HSA sent a survey to staff about their favorite things. Survey results can be found here: PCA Faculty_Staff Interest List 2023.xlsx
December 19th marks the end of the 2nd quarter. Parents of students in grades 3-8 are encouraged to check grades in RenWeb. PLEASE NOTE: When a student is absent, and no grade is entered for an assignment, the system often generates a 0 to hold the place. Please contact the teacher if you have any questions; these 0's are replaced once the assignment/assessment is completed.
Students who contributed to the Shoeboxes of Love will have a dress down day on Tuesday, December 12. The theme is UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATERS. All dress down day rules apply. Please see below for information about Shoeboxes of Love donations.
Our Pre-K through 5th grade Christmas Program will be held at OLSS on Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Information about arrival and dress code can be found below.
Students in grades 2-8 will participate in the Advent Penitential on Wednesday. This will be the first Reconciliation for our second graders.
Our PCA Children's Mass will be on Friday this week, instead of Thursday for the Immaculate Conception. That means Thursday will be a Friday schedule and Friday will be a Thursday schedule. There will be an HSA parent social after Mass on Friday in the Concessions Area (see details below).
We will have Adoration in our school chapel after Mass on Friday from 10:30 AM-2:45 PM, and then next Wednesday, December 13 from 9:30 AM-3:00 PM. Cleared family members are welcome to come join us for Adoration.
Picture retakes will take place on Friday. If you would like your child to retake their picture, please send the old picture back with them on Friday. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS HE/SHE IS RETAKING THE PHOTO. Mandatory uniforms are required for individual pictures. 8th graders may dress up for their photo retake and then change back into their uniform.
Middle School midterms will take place on December 13, 15, and 18, with make-ups on the 19th. Middle School parents should check Teams for study guides/outlines for the exams. Please see schedule below.
We hope to have the Color Run on the early release day before Christmas break, December 19th. We will monitor the weather conditions and keep you updated.
Have a peaceful week!
LIBRARY BOOKS
All PCA Library books should be returned by December 8.
If students still have a book checked out after that date, parents will receive a reminder email listing the title and cost of the book.
If books are not returned by December 15, the parent FACTS account will be charged the cost of the book.

PK-GRADE 5 CHRISTMAS PROGRAM INFORMATION
Students in grade PreK through grade 5 will perform in their annual Christmas program on December 5th, 2023. The performance will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m. Students should arrive by 4:45 p.m. wearing their red or green Christmas best. Boys should wear a nice pair of dress pants with a dress shirt or polo. Girls can wear a dress, skirt, or a nice pant suit. All shoes should have a closed toe (no sandals) for your child’s safety. All dress down day rules apply.
When you arrive, one parent should sign your child in with their teacher in the Cultural Center. Once your child is signed in, you can go and get a seat in the church for the performance. Please do not arrive earlier than 4:30 p.m.; the doors to the Cultural Center will not be open earlier than that.
Please note: All PreK students will meet in the church – not the Cultural Center.
