Luis Alvarez
Luis Alvarez, a pioneering physicist and Nobel laureate, made significant contributions to science that continue to shape our understanding of the universe. Born in 1911 to a Mexican-American family, Alvarez played a key role in the development of the atomic bomb during World War II and made groundbreaking advances in particle physics. His proposal of the asteroid impact theory, co-developed with his son Walter, provided crucial insights into the extinction of the dinosaurs. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1968, Alvarez's legacy as a trailblazing scientist and mentor is a fitting tribute during National Hispanic Heritage Month, highlighting the profound impact of Hispanic scientists on global knowledge.
Principal's Message
Hello Trojan Families,
This month, we’re focusing on the importance of attendance, and we need your support! Please encourage your student to attend school every day. We’re kicking off our awareness efforts with Attendance Spirit Week, followed by a grade-level competition at the end of the month. Remember, student success begins with showing up and being ready to engage in their learning journey.
In addition to focusing on attendance, we’re excited to see our students exemplify Trojan Excellence. We define Trojan Excellence through our T.O.R.C.H. principles: Tenacity, Ownership, Respect, Community, and Honor.
Starting tomorrow and running through October 18th, we challenge our Trojans to demonstrate their excellence by avoiding any major referrals and having no more than one failing grade. Students who meet this goal will qualify for our Fall Fun Lunch celebration!
Let’s show our Trojan spirit and make these next few weeks a great success!
Best regards,
Michael Abraham
