Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year.

I hope that everyone was able to find some time to relax and enjoy their summer vacation. We have stayed busy throughout the summer responding to the numerous challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has presented. We have been analyzing our typical ways of operating to figure out the safest way to reopen school. We have established new safety protocols and procedures for our students and staff and have found creative ways to organize our schedule so that we are able to run a hybrid instructional model. While we don't know what the future holds, I am confident that our school and our community will come together in order to create an excellent learning experience for our students.

Students choosing the in-person option for the 2020-2021 school year will receive updated class schedules as soon as possible. Once we understand the total number of students that are choosing Option 2, we will be reworking teacher and student schedules to lower class sizes and balance classes into our maroon and gold groups to accommodate our "hybrid" model. With this effort, many student schedules will be changed from the one that was released at the end of May. We will do our best to ensure that students remain in their courses that are on their current schedule but class periods and teachers may change. Students will have the opportunity to request schedule changes via a google form but very few changes will be possible for this school year.

Students should utilize schedules received in May to determine appropriate summer assignments for each course. Summer Assignments can be found here.

Students choosing our VLP option for the 2020-2021 school year will be loaded into the Schools PLP system based on their current schedule. For students that are registered for courses that are not offered by Schools PLP, you will receive an email on Friday about other options that you may choose. Students who are taking AP courses will complete their classes through APEX since Schools PLP does not offer all of our AP offerings. Students choosing our VLP are not required to complete summer assignments, but we do encourage students planning to return second semester to complete them for content understanding.

The deadline for choosing the Virtual Learning Program is Today, August 6th at 11:59 p.m.

Our student orientations will be held virtually on August 27th for maroon (Last names: A-K) and on August 28th for gold (Last names: L-Z). This live event will allow students and parents to received detailed information about the start of the school year including our new safety protocols. More details will be forthcoming.

We have developed expectations and protocols for our students in all aspects of our school. Students will be required to wear masks and ID badges daily. Students are expected to bring their own mask to school and wear it throughout the day. We will be printing new IDs for all incoming 9th grade students. For students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade who need a new ID printed, please complete this form and one will be made for you. For a new ID, a charge of $4.00 will be added to your account.

The PSAT will be given to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students on October 14, 2020. All students that have selected our in-person instruction (option 1) for the first semester will take the PSAT. For students that have selected our virtual learning plan (option 2) for the first semester, please complete this form if you are interested in coming to campus to take the PSAT. The deadline to register is August 19, 2020.

• 9th grade test will be online (must be taken at NAHS)

• 10th grade test will be paper/pencil (must be taken at NAHS)

• 11th grade test will be paper/pencil (must be taken at NAHS)

** If the district is in a 100% remote learning model, the PSAT will not be administered on October 14, 2020.

Are you interested in taking the SAT?

For our Seniors, we are offering an opportunity to take the SAT on campus on September 23, 2020. This is an opportunity that is being offered because we were unable to administer the SAT this past April. If you are interested, you may sign up by completing this form. The deadline to register is August 19, 2020.

**If the district is in a 100% remote learning model, the SAT will not be administered on September 23, 2020.

PTO Supply Sale

Our annual Back To School Supply Sale, our largest fundraiser, will be completely online this year. We have teamed up with Star Beacon, a locally owned and operated school supply wholesaler. In addition, we have been approved as an Amazon Associate. A percentage of sales from both sites will directly benefit the PTO.
