Weekly Scout Report ~ Aug. 22, 2024

I hope this Scout Report finds you and your family well. We've had a wonderful first four days of school. It is so great to see so many happy and smiling faces. My goal is to share important bits of Nike information every Thursday evening via email.

We would LOVE to see what families did this summer! Please email pictures of your family if you'd like them posted in the foyer to nswaller@mvr3.k12.mo.us Students LOVE to see pictures of their family!

Attendance is VERY important!

The school day begins at 8:35 a.m. and will be released at 3:40 p.m. Students should not be dropped off before 8:05 am; there is no supervision available. Students dropped off between 8:05 - 8:20 will either eat breakfast or wait in the gym to be released to class at 8:20.

Thank you families for being patient with us as we work through our new pick up and drop off procedures. When lining up, we ask that families make two lines up the road, so hopefully we do not back up onto Highway AP. After we open the gate, we are asking families to make ONE line to pick up or drop off your child(ren). We will have two or three drop off areas (look for staff and cones). It is important for family members picking up students to have their KidAccount cards ready to scan when Nike staff comes by at dismissal. These cards were in your child's Thursday folders today. Remember, if you have a transportation change, please contact the Nike office.

Our main mode of communication between teachers will be email. If you have a question or concern for a staff member, they can be reached via email. All Nike staff members are listed on the Nike School website, under the Staff tab. It can also be found HERE. As always, I welcome families to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

Please turn in your family's Free & Reduced lunch form (in your child's Thursday folder) or complete the online form to be entered in a drawing to win a free bike or a free tv. See flyer below.

Directions to fill out the application online: Log in to Infinite Campus, click on more on the left hand side, click on meal benefits, and you can click on the button to fill out the application.

Nike has an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The organization has traditionally sponsored activities such as Movie Night, Breakfast with Santa, Trivia Night, Spring Carnival, and fundraisers to support the school. This year we are planning to hold similar events.

Nike PTO has 2 fundraisers to kick off the 2024-25 school year!!!

Fall Mum's Fundraiser

We've partnered with a local farmer from Countryside Farm & Market in Cuba, Missouri who is providing us with gorgeous 9 inch mums that will display an 18-24 inch spread.

Simply select your favorite colored chrysanthemums and add them to your cart. Pay online via card, or bring your cash/check on pick up day. Orders will need to be placed by September 20, 2024 at noon. All plants will need to be picked up from Nike Elementary on September 25, 2024. Specific details on pick up time will be communicated.

Nike Spirit Wear

Do you know someone 50+ who would be interested in helping a child learn to love reading and learning? Oasis Intergenerational Tutoring pairs volunteers ages 50+ with children in grades K-3 to work one-on-one each week as their tutors, mentors and friends. They can tutor one child or several, on a one-on-one basis each week throughout the school year.
