LETTER FROM DR. WALDRIP
Dear PTA Members,
With the upcoming election season, it’s time to make sure you, your neighbors, and your
coworkers are registered to vote.
The district does not take positions on matters of the election, but we are committed to
creating and supporting a culture of voting within our community. In turn, I want to ensure
you also have some key voting information at your fingertips.
As it gets closer to Nov. 5, counties will update these key links with vital information:
Collin County
• Oct. 21 - Nov. 1 Early Voting Locations
• Election Day Voting Locations
Denton County
• Oct. 21 - Nov. 1 Early Voting Locations
• Election Day Voting Locations
In addition to national and state elections, there will be four propositions related to Frisco
ISD.
A. Voter Approval Tax Rate Election

Thanks for all you do,

LETTER FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Hello Frisco ISD Families!
It is hard to believe that we are already in October and this time of year certainly tends to be the busiest time of year for our Local PTAs. They have been working tirelessly planning great events and programs at their local campuses and this tends to be the time all of them take place! Please know that we are extremely thankful for each and every volunteer for serving their community and local campuses selflessly all while managing and balancing their own activities! It is not easy, and we truly appreciate it.
As a reminder, PTA Membership is open for the 2024-2025 School Year and if you have not yet joined your local PTA this year, it is not too late to join. PTA is and has been the largest child advocacy association in America and your membership will make a difference on your campus. It will be a voice for an FISD Student and the financial contribution from your membership will go a long way in supporting your local campus.
Additionally, if you do not have a home campus, (or would love to become a member of one or several campuses) you can join as a Membership Supporter through our Council Website. Community Members truly can contribute to the success of our children and schools and we would love your support in joining one or more Local PTAs. Our kids are our future and becoming a member is giving a FISD Student a voice which is especially important this school year as we entered into another Legislative Session in 2025.
Speaking of Community Members, we do want to take this time to thank all of the Community Members who have signed up through our Membership District Initiative as of October 1st. You can see our full list under the Membership Supporters section in this newsletter and here. We do want to extend a special thanks to Dr. Mike Waldrip, Marissa Melançon and Nikki Kirkwood for becoming Advocate Members and joining ALL 73 PTAs in Frisco ISD! We are so extremely grateful to you and truly appreciate your support.
Lastly, Council just launched our “In a world where you can be anything, Be Kind” shirts that promote a message of inclusion and acceptance throughout our district. Please consider purchasing one of these shirts from us. The proceeds will help us provide District-wide educational programs, community engagement opportunities, grant scholarships to 24 Graduating Seniors (12 of those being Horizon Scholarships given to students with a 504 or IEP), and support Frisco Threads, our clothes closet that provides clothing to the economically disadvantaged in our district.
Last but not least, our next Delegate Meeting will be on October 22nd (10am) at the Administration Building with an FISD Spotlight on Government Affairs. We will be hearing from Megan DeWolfe, the Director of Government Affairs and Community Engagement for FISD.
Thank you for being part of our PTA family and please let us know if you have any questions or would like more information on anything included in our newsletter.
Joyfully,
Cyndi Arakas

SPECIAL EDUCATION MEET & GREET
Members of Council were pleased to meet with families and students at the Frisco ISD Special Education Meet & Greet on September 25th. Information about Special Education in FISD as well as ways that Frisco Police Department supports families of children with disabilities was shared. Families were able to connect with department leadership and explore district and community resources.

DYSLEXIA AWARENESS MONTH
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and aims to support those with this learning difficulty. Dyslexia is not a disorder of any kind; but is a learning impairment that causes problems with writing, reading, and spelling. The intelligence of dyslexic people is unaffected. This misunderstanding of the condition leads to stigmas, which Dyslexia Awareness Month aims to eradicate.
