From Mr. Sachtleben's Desk...
The first full week of school has bee a successful one! The students continue to demonstrate they are learning the routine and structure of the school day. We are still working with many of them as their locker has been challenging, but all-in-all, the students are figuring out their day. I encourage our parents to talk with their child in order to see what they have liked about school so far and what is challenging to them. We know middle school can be hard, but our attitude is one in which we "handle hard better." If we Think Team, then all of us will move in the same direction and the students will experience success. Thank you for your partnership and support!
Parents are also encouraged to talk to their students about these initiatives we are using this school year:
- Common Commitments - Hallway, Classroom, Bathroom, Cafeteria
- Voice Levels
- Sells Seals
- Bus Bucks
- P.R.I.D.E. Tokens
- ROCK Period
- ROCK Rally
We have introduced the students to these ideas and we are excited to watch them all grow! We are going to challenge every student as we believe everyone can learn at high levels!
Have a great weekend! As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me with your questions or concerns. Thank You!
Matt

Save the Date! Redistricting Webinar on August 27
As part of the planning for Bishop Elementary, Dublin City Schools needs to redistrict school boundaries. Redistricting will focus on incorporating the new school, balancing existing student populations, and accommodating future enrollment growth. Our school is one of eight that may be impacted by this redistricting. As such, parents are invited to join an upcoming public information webinar hosted by Cropper GIS, the third-party expert guiding the process for Dublin City Schools. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, August 27 at 7 PM via Zoom. During the session, Cropper GIS will walk you through their process and timeline for redistricting and explain how your input can help shape their work. The link to join the webinar will be shared in next week’s e-newsletter. It will also be posted on the district's redistricting webpage the day of the event. We hope to see you there.
Appropriate Attire for School - "Dress Code"
I am asking parents for their support in making sure ALL students are meeting the expectations of the dress code policy as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. We realize the warmer weather is still with us, but students need to dress appropriately for school. Thank you for everyone's efforts with this. We appreciate the support in creating an environment conducive to student learning!
6th Graders and Chromebooks
Here are few quick ideas that parents can help us with now that the students have a chromebook:
- Please remind your child to charge their chromebook each night so they are ready to use it at school.
- The protective cover that is in place on the chromebook can NOT be removed.
- When students use their school email, they can only email other students in the District or members of the teaching staff. NO outside email addresses will be recognized (and parents will not be able to email their child either).
- At any time there is an issue with the chromebook, students should bring the device to the Library in order to bring this to the attention of our Media Specialist.
- A $50 technology fee has been added to your PaySchools account. This must be paid each year the student has possession of the chromebook.
- Students are expected to take good care of their device!
Thank you all for helping your child understand the importance of taking care of this equipment as well as understanding the importance of the proper use of the different applications they will have access to throughout the school year.
