Class Placement Requests
Believe it or not, we are beginning to organize for the upcoming school year. This includes staffing, timetables and new registrations. Our planning also addresses next years’ class placements.
The creation of classes is a very complex task that takes into account many factors. When determining placements for next year we consider learning and academic needs, emotional and social needs, and class size to name a few.
We recognize that, in a few individual cases, there may be important reasons why a specific placement is necessary. In these cases, we request that you submit a written request directly to Mrs. Paquin indicating the reasons for your request. The request should identify the optimal conditions for your child’s success but should not indicate a specific teacher request. We will do our best to accommodate your child’s needs but cannot guarantee specific placements at this time. All written requests must be received no later than Friday, May 10th.
Looking forward to a great week ahead!

The Bath Food Program
The Bath Food Program continues to run strong thanks to our dedicated volunteers and the generous support of our community. We recently received donations from - President’s Choice Grant, two community groups, the Lionesses and the fire fighters association. In total, we have now received just over $19 000 to put toward next year!!! A huge shout out to Mistene Clapp for her leadership in this area.
This week we received a generous donation of a fridge from Leons for use with the food program - Thank you thank you!
HELP NEEDED
The Bath Holiday Bazaar raises over $13,000 for our students. People are needed to help run it or else this event will NOT happen this year!! Mostly urgently, people are needed to look after vendors. It doesn't need to be just one person, 2 or 3 or more people can look after it together.
People are also needed to look after getting donations for the silent auction, raffle and cafe. Several people can also share these tasks. The previous organizers have very clear information about how to run the bazaar. Guidance is available. Please email bathholidaybazaar@gmail.com if you can help or know someone who can.

The 2023-2024 School Climate Survey
The 2023-2024 School Climate Survey is available to all LDSB students in Grades 4 to 12 from April 22 to May 3, 2024, to help LDSB understand more about student experiences at our schools and learning centres. The survey is voluntary, anonymous, and should take 20-30 minutes to complete. Families will be notified that the survey is taking place and given the option to opt out their student or students.
If families or students have any questions, please speak to your principal.
EQAO Results and Practice Tests
The EQAO window for testing is open from May 8th-June 12th, 2024 and will happen for students in grade 3 and 6.
Families can look at EQAO 2023 results for the province, board and Bath through the EQAO website.
EQAO is administered to Grade 3 and Grade 6 students each spring. All of the sample and practice tests for this school year are now available.
Students can become familiar with the digital assessments and their platform through EQAO’s sample and practice tests.
We encourage families to check out the digital platform and to explore the types of questions that are asked on the assessment for Grade 3 & 6.
Kindergarten Registration
A reminder that Kindergarten registration for the 24/25 school year is now open. If you have children at home who will be coming or know of families in our community that are planning on registering, please encourage them to do so as soon as possible. Knowing our numbers ahead of time helps our planning. Our Kindergarten Open-house, when next year's students and families can come for a tour, is scheduled for May 22nd. If your student is four or five by the end of December, now is the time to register for this September 2024.
Transportation Application - Triboard Information
Please read the information below in you require new transportation for September. Many families will have their transportation rolled over without reapplication, but please read carefully so you are aware if action needs to be taken by your family for application.

Concussion Protocol
In order to follow the LDSB concussion protocol, and in an abundance of caution, any time a student takes a blow to the head, face or neck, or a blow to the body that transmits a force to the head, we must suspect a concussion, Form 142-1 Tool to Identify a Suspected Concussion will be completed, and parents will be contacted.
If after a bump to the head, if your child exhibits one or more worrisome signs or symptoms, parents will also be asked to complete Form 142-4 Documentation of Medical Examination indicating that their child is symptom free and able to “return to learn” and then to “return to physical activity,” 24 hours later.
Should your student be diagnosed with a concussion, please alert the school right away, and complete and return the below documents to the school:
Form 142C4 Documentation for a Diagnosed Concussion - Return to Learn/Return to Physical Activity Steps 2a-6 (this is a process and will take time to work through between school and home)
We take suspected concussions/diagnosed concussions very seriously and we appreciate your support in ensuring the safety of your student. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
School Trips and Volunteers
Throughout the year, we may ask for parent/guardian volunteers on school trips or for various classroom and school activities. The wait time for obtaining a CPIC (background check with vulnerable sector screening) can be lengthy. As such, if you think you would be willing to assist with a trip or school event in the future, please consider obtaining a CPIC with vulnerable sector screening completed, beforehand.
Triboard Transportation
Tis the season for bus cancellations....As the weather gets colder, families should ensure they are signed up to receive direct notifications, either by email, or Tri-Board’s app. Delays and cancellations are also posted to Tri-Board’s Twitter account.
