Principal's Message π€
Welcome Back to a New Year of Learning and Growth!
Dear Panther Families,
I hope this message finds you well-rested and filled with the warmth of cherished moments from the winter break. As we embark on a brand-new year, I extend a warm welcome back to our GEMS Panthers and families.
The start of a new year is a time for reflection, resolutions, and renewed energy. Our GEMS community has already achieved so much, and I am confident that the coming months will be filled with even more accomplishments, growth, and shared successes.
I am excited to share the GEMS staff has officially adopted a brand new Glen Edward Middle School mission statement. We are so proud of the work that was put in to creating this and hope you share our excitement. Our new mission statement is as follows:
βGlen Edwards Middle School exists to create a positive environment of high expectations that provides opportunities for all to grow academically, emotionally, and socially.β
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been diligently planning and preparing to make the remainder of this school year an engaging and enriching experience for your Panther. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and intellectually stimulating environment.
Parents and guardians, your partnership with us is invaluable. Your support, involvement, and collaboration contribute significantly to the positive atmosphere we aim to foster at GEMS. Let us continue to work together to make Glen Edwards Middle School a place where every student feels valued, supported, and motivated.
Throughout the upcoming months, we have exciting events, activities, and educational initiatives planned. We look forward to seeing our students explore new subjects, build lasting friendships, and develop the skills necessary for their future success.
Wishing you all a fantastic start to the new year! May it be filled with joy and many memorable moments.
Panther Proud,
Ms. Castillo

Welcome Back!!
Looking forward to a fresh new start with the new semester. We will be meeting with students in the next few to review the school behavior and academic expectations.
Friendly Reminder: School Rules for a Positive Environment
As we dive into the new year, we want to reinforce our commitment to maintaining a positive and respectful school environment. Please take a moment to review and discuss the following important reminders with your Panther:
1. Zero Tolerance Behaviors:
Offensive derogatory/racial language will not be tolerated and will result in suspension.
The use of profanity and/or inappropriate language will also result in consequences.
Bullying, including the use of derogatory, vulgar, or racial language, is never acceptable, even if intended as a joke. Ridiculing or taunting other students for their appearance and/or academic/behavioral performance is strictly prohibited.
2. Prohibited Items:
Please remind your child not to bring gum to school.
Phones and Airpods: Earbuds/Airpods are not permitted. If students need headphones for a class, they must use a wired set that plugs into their Chromebook. Students found with Earbuds will have the ear buds taken to the office and they can be picked up at the end of the day.
3. Positive Attendance:
Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. Ensure your child attends school consistently.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing these rules with your Panther. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at jfernandez@wpusd.org.
Hereβs to a successful and rewarding second semester!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Fernandez

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Improved Traffic Flow π¦
This adjustment aims to streamline the process, providing a more convenient experience for parents during both drop-off and pick-up times. We appreciate your cooperation and hope this change contributes to a smoother and more efficient traffic flow.
DBT Skills For Parents
Parents and guardians,
Take advantage of a fantastic opportunity from the Placer County Office of Education (PCOE) to learn Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills for free to use with your children. This is a virtual parenting series that will be hosted by Auburn Davis DBT. This is a four-part series that will begin in late January and will be hosted virtually. This would be a great option for parents of students ages 10-18. Another series will be hosted in April. Please share this opportunity with other parents/guardians who might be interested.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Families who recently registered their child for school (new to WPUSD) do NOT need to complete this process.
