MESSAGE FROM THE CCS ADMINISTRATION
Good Afternoon CCS Caregivers and Charlotte Residents,
We are always looking for opportunities to bring the whole student body together, reuniting the K-8 feel that makes CCS so special. Once a month, we will hold all-school assemblies where different grade levels are the host and the team creates a greeting, a share, a celebration of learning and a positive message to send the students off feeling connected and empowered. Today, this assembly was led by the fifth grade team who modeled the meeting expectations and led us in a greeting, share and silly activity. Look for more information about our all-school meetings in the near future.

Have a restful and rejuvenating fall weekend!!

IMPORTANT BUS BEHAVIOR REMINDERS
At Charlotte Central School we take care of ourselves, we take care of each other, and we take care of this place. We expect all students to stay committed to these on our buses too! Next week, we will be reviewing bus rules with students so everyone can stay safe.
It is the policy of the Champlain Valley School District board to provide a safe environment on school buses transporting students to and from school and school activities and to maintain student discipline policies. Bus drivers are authorized and expected to maintain appropriate student behavior on the bus. Riding the bus is a privilege. Students who engage in inappropriate conduct may lose this privilege. In the event a student is denied transportation privileges by the principal or designee as a result of disciplinary action or consequences, the parent/caregiver will be notified.
All of our buses have surveillance cameras both inside and outside.
The following are expectations for behavior on CVSD school buses:
All school rules apply on buses
Follow directions from bus drivers
Respect the property and rights of others
Sit in assigned seats
Stay in seat until destination
Keep hands and head inside window
No eating or drinking on bus
Speak respectfully to and about others

MUSIC NEWS
The Band Program is up and running and we are looking forward to an amazing year of music! If you need to obtain an instrument we work with two outstanding music companies. We have a long standing and positive relationship with Ellis Music Company, Bethel, VT www.ellismusic.com and our local store Music and Arts, Burlington, VT www.musicandarts.com. Both companies visit our school regularly and provide outstanding service. Ellis and Music and Arts provide rental instruments. Please check out the details of their respective rental agreements on their websites.
CCS Jazz Begins
The CCS Jazz will begin rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on 9/10/24. This group is open to all band students in grades 6 - 8. We will meet in the band room from 7:30 - 8:00 am. Students will enter through the east side of the building (just outside the band room/gyms) and will report to class directly after rehearsals. All members should arrive in time for a prompt 7:30 downbeat.
Feel free to reach out with any questions at asmith@cvsdvt.org. Thank you!
CHARLOTTE CENTRAL SCHOOL 5-8 MUSIC HANDBOOK
Dear CCS Students and Parents,
Welcome back to school for the 2024- 2025 school year! This handbook has been prepared to provide you with information about the music program at CCS. Please read it carefully. A full copy will be available on the CCS music web page.
By selecting band and/or chorus, you have become a member of a musical family and have joined the tradition of musical excellence at CCS. You will find yourself challenged on many levels – intellectually, emotionally, physically, and musically as you strive to recreate works of art.
Students who are entering the performing groups at CCS for the first time should be aware that being a member of the band or chorus is different from being in any other class. Many of the students who become involved in the band and choral program remain for their entire school careers, primarily because it is like being part of an extended family. There is a special bond that is created among people who make music together.
We encourage you to email us or leave a voice message if you need to contact us in any way.
Thank you for your support this year!
Sincerely,
Andy Smith and Chris Gribnau

We wanted to make sure you knew about a great STEM event coming up in the next few weeks- please see below:
The Vermont Aviators Association (VAA) is happy to announce our first Green Mountain Aviation Field Days will take place 14-15 Sep 2024. We believe this will be the largest aviation and STEM event in Vermont in over 30 years! This community event will feel more like a State Fair / Open House / Touch a Truck event than an airshow. Our theme will focus on the "Past, Present, and Future of Aviation'' with a heavy emphasis on education and STEM highlighting some of the wonderful opportunities available to kids, and adults, here in VT.
We currently have ~47 aircraft confirmed for our static displays, a 20,000 sq/ft Hanger to house our STEM exhibits, flight simulators, Radio Controlled races, numerous DoD, Airport and Local vehicles for "touch-a-truck" displays, 11 Food trucks, and five bands playing throughout the weekend. EAA Chapter 613 will host a Young Eagles Event in conjunction with our Field Days providing FREE discovery flights to children from 7 to 17 year old's providing them an opportunity to experience the thrill of flight in a small aircraft.
More info and tickets can be found at our Green Mountain Aviation Field Days website. Children 12 and under are free."
