Good morning Fulton Families,
As we head into winter and colder days, we wanted to remind you that students will continue to go outside for recess on most days, weather permitting. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed in warm clothes and layers to stay comfortable during outdoor activities. Please clearly label their hats, coats, and gloves.
Below is HCPSS criteria we consider when having outdoor activities:
Temperature and humidity
Wind chill
Heat index and air quality
Age of students
Length of time outdoors
Adequacy of the children’s clothing
Condition of the playground
Falling precipitation (more than a sprinkle or mist)
Thunder and lightning
Generally, it is assumed that students will be outside for recess, physical education, or any other outdoor activity when the temperature combined with the wind chill is not less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit or the heat index reading is less than 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Please reach out to Ms. Courtemanche at samantha_courtemanche@hcpss.org if you are in need of cold weather gear.
Wishing you wave of joy,
Dr. Burks, Mrs. Liwosz, & Mrs. Sillers
Midterm Check-In: Please Review Your Child's Grades on Canvas
As we move into the midterm of the quarter, we encourage you to take a moment to check your child’s progress on Canvas. Reviewing their grades and assignments can give you valuable insight into their performance and help identify areas where they might need extra support or encouragement.
To view your child’s grades,
- Login: Access HCPSS Connect using your credentials.
- Select Canvas: Navigate to the "Canvas" section within HCPSS Connect.
- Choose Student: Click on the "Students" icon to select your child.
- View Grades: Click on the "Grades" link to see their grades for each course.
If you have any questions or notice anything concerning, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher—we’re here to support both you and your child’s success.
Thank you for your continued partnership, and for staying engaged in your child’s education. Together, we can ensure they finish the semester strong!
Staff Favorite's Things
The holiday season is just around the corner, and we wanted to make gift-giving a little easier (and a lot more fun!) for you. Our amazing staff has shared their favorite things—from books and games to treats and hobbies—and we thought you might like to check them out as you plan for the season of giving.
You can view our list of staff favorites here
December Character Trait: Service
Our character trait for the month of December is Service. We are defining service, as lending a hand to help someone else.
To engage your children at home around the topic of service, describe a service project you participated in as a kid or teenager. You could also ask your child(ren) what are some ways they would like to serve in our community?
Playground Safety Reminder
We've recently noticed a few incidents of children falling off the monkey bars, and we wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of playground safety. Please encourage your child to use equipment appropriately, one at a time, and to always be mindful of their surroundings while playing.
We recommend reinforcing the importance of waiting their turn, using the monkey bars safely, and being cautious when climbing. Together, we can help ensure a safe and fun playground experience for all children.
Thank you for your attention and support!
