Weekly Newsletter

Hello Families and Guardians,
We've had a very productive week at Morris, and I’m excited to share some important updates with you. In the picture to the right, our Pre-K students had a special visit from the Lenox Police and Fire Department! The students enjoyed learning about safety, exploring the fire truck, and meeting the officers and firefighters who help keep our community safe. It was a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to connect with these local heroes!
Morris School Council
Join our School Council and help shape the future of our school! The council brings together families, staff, and community members to collaborate on important decisions affecting our students and school environment. Your insights and feedback are key to strengthening our programs and ensuring they meet the diverse needs of our community. If you're interested in joining, please email Principal Kelley at bkelley@lenoxps.org or attend our first meeting to learn more. The council meets four times a year—your voice can make a difference!
Bus Evacuation Drill Success
On Wednesday, our students participated in a bus evacuation drill to practice what to do in the event of an emergency. Safety is our top priority, and we’re proud of how well our students responded during the drill. In the coming weeks, we will continue our safety preparation with both a lockdown drill and a relocation drill to ensure everyone is familiar with these important procedures.
Walk, Bike, or Roll to School Event
We invite all families to join us on Wednesday morning, October 9th, for our first Walk, Bike, or Roll to School event of the year! This is a wonderful opportunity to promote healthy habits and connect with fellow students and families. We will meet at Lilac Park at 8:00 a.m. and head to school together. We hope to see you there!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
At the end of the month, we will be hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences, an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s academic progress and growth so far this year. These conferences are a valuable time to strengthen the home-school partnership, and we encourage all families to attend.

Attendance Reminder
If your child is going to be absent due to illness or any other reason, please make sure to notify the school office at 413-637-5570 . It's important for us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure your child’s safety.
The Lenox Education Enrichment Foundation
(LEEF) is an endowed Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation fund whose purpose is to enhance and enrich the educational experience of the students and teachers in the Lenox Public Schools. Each year, LEEF seeks proposals for grants from students, teachers, administrators, staff, parents, nonprofits and members of the community. More information, including a link to the application, can be found HERE.
Third Thursday Theme Days!
We’re excited to kick off Third Thursday Theme Days at Morris Elementary! Each month, we’ll have a fun dress-up theme for students and staff.
Our first theme day is Flannel Day on Thursday, October 17th. Wear your favorite flannel gear and join the fun!
Let’s celebrate in style and build school spirit together!
