Weekly Highlights
Walled Lake Western shuts out Avondale to claim district title 🏆
Walled Lake Western flexed its muscles on Friday night with a shutout win over Avondale, 42-0, to claim its second-straight MHSAA Division 3 District Championship.
“It’s a great feeling!” said senior linebacker Shane Rachner. “We definitely are going to celebrate tonight, but we’re not satisfied.”
“We’ve been working all the way since the summer for this, and it just feels great to be at this point right now,” said senior running back and linebacker Lucas Price, who scored the first touchdown of the game.
Walled Lake Western will get its shot a redemption on Friday night, 7 p.m., against Mason in the MHSAA Division 3 Regional Finals. The Warriors fell to the Bulldogs in an overtime thriller last year in the Regional Finals. However, they did beat Mason earlier this season, 20-17.
“If I look back 365 days ago and said we could get an opportunity to play them in the exact same game, in the exact same spot, and get our shot at a get back, I think we’d be pretty happy,” said head coach Kory Cioroch. “We are excited for this week of practice and the opportunity (on Friday night).”

Walled Lake Central kicks off annual Canned Food Drive 🥫
The Walled Lake Central student council kicked off its annual Canned Food Drive on Saturday by raising over $4,500 and collecting 1,660 pounds of food for the Hospitality House Food Pantry.
Those opening day numbers totaled 10,872 points, which is almost 2,000 more points than their kick off day a year ago. On kick off day, students went around to local neighbors to collect donations and then delivered them to the Hospitality House Food Pantry. Over the next two weeks, Walled Lake Central will continue to collect donations in the hopes of surpassing 30,000 total points. If the Vikings meet their goal, there will be no homework over Thanksgiving break.
Walled Lake Central’s Canned Food Drive is the largest donation the Hospitality House Food Pantry receives each year.
If you’d like to donate, you can purchase items from the Vikings’ Canned Food Drive Amazon Wishlist or drop items off at the bin in front of the main entrance at Walled Lake Central now through Friday, November 22.

Chris Huismann and Roger Martin receive Golden Apple Awards
Walled Lake Northern marching band volunteers, Chris Huismann and Roger Martin, received Golden Apple Awards at the November 7, 2024 Board of Education meeting.
Huismann and Martin were nominated by Walled Lake Northern parent, Lisa Massat, because of their dedication to the Knights’ marching band for 19 years.
“Even though their own children have graduated from the program, Roger and Chris still return year after year to ensure the current marching band students are photographed and celebrated each year,” said Massat.
