Principal's Message
Dear Mary M. Knight Families and Community,
As we enter the final week of the 2024-25 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our students and school community.
A Weekend to Remember
What a beautiful celebration we had this past Saturday as we honored our outstanding Class of 2025! The sunshine matched the bright smiles on our graduates' faces as they walked across the stage at 3:00 PM. Their chosen motto, "You're not behind. You're just on your own timeline," perfectly captures the individual journey each student takes toward success - a philosophy we embrace throughout our entire school community.
We are incredibly proud of Valedictorian Alexis Jay and Salutatorian Hailey Morris, whose dedication and academic excellence have inspired us all. Congratulations to all seven graduates: Benjamin Camacho-Vizena, Alexis Hartley, Alexis Jay, Quinton Ogg-Torgramsen, Lana Riggs, Jaxson Stoney, and Alexander Tindal. Each has brought something special to our Mary M. Knight family, and we know they will continue to make us proud as they embark on their next adventures.
Our Kindergarten promotion ceremony on Friday was equally magical! Watching our future Class of 2037 celebrate completing their first year was absolutely heartwarming. These little learners have grown so much, and we're excited to watch them continue their educational journey. Thank you to all the families who filled our space with love and cheers - your presence made this milestone even more special.
Student Excellence and GRIT
Our commitment to fostering GRIT - Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity - continues to shine through our students. This week's extensive list of GRIT award recipients demonstrates the positive character development happening throughout our school. We're proud to see so many students embracing our theme of "Nurturing Resilience, Inspiring Excellence."
Hands-On Learning in Action
Our Green Thumb Owls have been working hard all year in our Horticulture program, and their dedication culminated in a fantastic plant sale. Whether you joined us after graduation on Saturday or plan to visit during our main sale on Monday from 3:00-4:00 PM, your support helps fund our CTE programs while taking home beautiful, locally-grown plants at just $1 each. This is exactly the kind of real-world learning experience that makes education come alive for our students.
This Week's Important Events
As we wrap up the school year, we have several special events:
- Tuesday: Elementary Field Day (12:30-2:30 PM) - a fun celebration of physical activity and teamwork
- Wednesday: Late start day, Elementary end-of-year awards assembly, and PTO meeting at 3:30 PM
- Thursday: Last day with 12:25 PM release
- Friday: No school - summer break begins!
Supporting Student Success
Our commitment to every student's success continues beyond the school year. We'll be offering Summer Credit Recovery for secondary students who need additional support to stay on track for graduation. Families of students who may benefit from this program will be contacted this week with detailed information.
Looking Ahead
As this school year comes to a close, we are grateful for the strong partnership between our school, families, and community. Together, we are truly living our mission to ensure all students have the knowledge, skills, motivation, and confidence to be successful citizens. You have helped us create a community of learners and leaders united to enrich the lives of all our students.
