Highland Highlights
December 2024
✨ Season's Greetings!
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the second quarter. The first half of the year has shown so much growth in our students. It is exciting to see them achieve new milestones every day. I witness the interactions between the staff and the students daily. The support and care shown to each student impact their school experience. As we round out the last few weeks of December, many activities are happening around the building. Make sure you read your teacher's newsletter and/or any Parent Square messages so you are aware of what is happening with your child's classroom. Thank you for your continued collaboration and support of your child/ren. We cannot do this without you!
During winter break I would encourage students to read daily. Just 15 minutes a day makes a huge impact on vocabulary development, fluency, and comprehension. It could be a great opportunity to do a read-aloud as a family. A fun activity is to read-aloud a story that has been made into a movie. Once you're done with the book, celebrate with a family movie night. See if your child/ren notice what is the same and different between the book and the movie!
I hope that you have a safe winter break filled with opportunities to be with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you back in January 2025!

News from Mrs.Chapman
Happy chilly December. This is my sixth encore rotation with students. All students will be receiving a lesson on growth mindset-what it is and why it is so important. I will be emphasizing that making mistakes is not a bad thing, but a chance for our brains to grow and learn. As always, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding your student. I am beyond thankful to get to be a small part of their educational journey.

Marco's Pizza Party!!
Way to go!
Student have the opportunity to share their work!
SKIP THE LINE
We know how much of a pain it can be to wait in the car rider line at pick up and drop off. It’s so time consuming and you’re literally wasting hours and hours out of your week. And doing this in the winter- get out of town!!! Well, now you have the chance to win your very own PERMANENT reserved spot for 1/2 a school year. Forget waiting in line. You’ll have a spot right in front of Highland with your name on it! Your child(ren) can be dropped off here and will be walked out to your car at pick up before everyone else is dismissed! Flyer will be sent home and the fundraiser starts on Friday, December 6th! This will last until the 19th. Good Luck!
