General Monitoring of School-Issued Devices
Please be aware that the Fredericktown Local School District, either directly or through a technology provider, is electing to generally monitor all school-issued devices (as that term is defined by R.C. 3319.325). The monitoring will include the following features: location tracking and student interactions with school-issued devices (e.g., keystrokes and web-browsing activity). The District generally monitors these features for the noncommercial education purpose of instruction, technical support, and/or exam proctoring. Additionally, these features are generally monitored as a necessary precaution for preventing and/or responding to threats to life or safety.

Classroom Updates
6th Grade Math - Ms. Briggs
We are continuing our number sense unit with factoring and ordering rational numbers this month. We will also be working on some Algebra by simplifying expressions (combining like terms).
6th Grade ELA - Mrs. Sherman
Students are finishing up their novel studies and we will begin the transition to research writing and presentations.
6th Grade Science - Miss Gniewek
7th Grade Math - Mrs. Pletcher
We took a small detour to talk about data analysis so they could be more informed about the upcoming elections. We are going back to chapter 3 and talk about negative numbers (with fractions and decimals).
7th Grade Science - Miss Gniewek & Miss Tate
8th Grade
Thank you to all the parents who came in for a student led conference! It was great to see you and to watch your teens taking the lead on their education.
8th Grade Math - Mr. Dibling
Students in math 8 are looking at angle relationships and measures of degree in triangles. We’re using this information to find unknowns and missing angle measurements.
Algebra I - Mr. Dibling
8th Grade English - Mrs. Meyers
Students will begin by reading suspense stories and will eventually write their own and focus on mood, dramatic irony, and plot line.
8th Grade Science - Miss Tate
We are wrapping up non-contact forces by experimenting with magnets and magnetic forces!
Band - Mr. Hollenbaugh
PLTW - Mrs. Webb
Students have been working in groups to organize a Natural Disaster Relief Plan here for Knox County, as if they only had five days to prepare for an incoming hazardous storm. They have taken on important roles like Team Manager, Positioning Expert, Medical Relief Expert and the Supply Chain Expert. Each person has a unique and vital role to play on the team and have to work together to create their plan, justify their choices and be ready to present their plan to FEMA within those 5 days. As we move into November, we will be switching gears and working with simple machines! The images are from our “Sink a Marshmallow” experiment earlier this month!

Supporting Our Freddies
Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. We encourage everyone to actively participate in creating a nurturing environment that promotes open communication, empathy, and understanding. If you know a student who may need support, or if you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our social workers or school counselors. Working together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of our students.

Attendance Information
General Policies
Regular attendance is key to success in school and is a positive factor that develops habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and responsibility. Students who attend class regularly generally achieve higher grades, enjoy school, and are more employable after leaving school.
Excused Absences:
Personal illness of the student (A doctor’s excuse stating for what days specifically the student should be excused from school may be required by the school for every absence over 72 hours. Once a doctor’s excuse is required, it is required for all absences for the remainder of the year).
Illness in the home (student must be 14 years of age or older).
Quarantine of the home by local health officials.
Death of a relative (limited to three days unless reasonable cause can be shown for a longer absence).
Observance of a religious holiday (consistent with the student’s established creed or belief).
Alternate learning experience approved in advance by an administrator.
A maximum of two (2) college visits for juniors and seniors to take place during the regular school year. These are extensions of the school day and are not counted in the attendance record. These absences must be approved five days in advance.
Reporting Absences:
- The morning of the absence, a parent/guardian should inform the office of the absence and the reason.
- An absence note or email, containing the dates and reason for the absence, signed by the parent or guardian or physician must be presented to the office within three (3) days of the student returning to school.
- Failure to produce an acceptable note from a parent or guardian within three (3) school days following an absence will result in an unexcused absence.
