Dear Families,
What a beautiful start to the week! It has been a pleasure seeing all of our students outside enjoying the sunshine and final warm days of fall. I am pleased to be returning to the district following a brief leave of absence and am thrilled to see children settled into their new classrooms and actively engaged in learning. I look forward to working with our families and our talented team of educators this year as we strive to continue to provide an outstanding educational experience for all of our students.
This year we will be beginning the process of developing a new long-range strategic plan for the Norfolk Public Schools. In order to develop this plan we will be looking at multiple sources of data including achievement data, demographic data, data from district program reviews, parent and staff feedback, budget history, district baseline and benchmark reports and focus group interviews. We will be analyzing data to identify district strengths and opportunities for growth and will use this data to drive the development of new long-term goals.
Over the next few weeks we will be assembling a district strategic planning committee composed of educators, staff members from various departments, parents and community members. The committee will meet bi-weekly after school from November-February. If you are interested in serving on the strategic planning committee, or would like more information, please contact my office at 508-528-1225.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Ingrid Allardi
UNITY DAY October 19th
We are excited to share with you that our school community will be celebrating Unity Day on October, 19th this year. Unity Day is an annual event occurring during National Bullying Prevention Month in October that promotes joining together to create healthier communities through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. It was started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in 2011 and is now celebrated around the world. As a school community we will wear ORANGE on the 19th to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying.
We encourage all of our students to wear orange on Wednesday, October 19th.
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to talk to your children about bullying prevention and all the positive things we can do to make healthier communities. For more information on the history of Unity Day and its impact, please go to https://www.PACER.org/bullying/about/history.asp.

Norfolk Schools Celebrate National School Lunch Week October 11 -14, 2022!
To recognize the importance and impact of our National School Lunch Program that serves nearly 30 million children each day, the Norfolk Public Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week. The week highlights how a healthy school lunch contributes to a student’s success both in and out of the classroom. The fun and creative campaign theme established by the group this year is “Peace, Love & School Lunch” as you can see on our October lunch menu.
Throwback Thursday October 13th: To celebrate National School lunch week, we invite your child to participate and dress in ‘groovy’ 70’s themed clothes. As always, participation is completely voluntary and optional. Please remember to adhere to school dress code while participating in this fun theme.
The “Peace, Love & School Lunch” campaign is made possible by the nonprofit School Nutrition Association and the Kellogg Company.

MA Extends Free School Lunches for 2022-2023!
Massachusetts has extended free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year! Even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to still complete the household application for next school year, which allows our district to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits and other school programs.
