Kappa Delta Summer Newsletter
August 1st
Our Last Summer Newsletter
Starting fall semester we will be going back to our once a week newsletter where you can read all about the exciting happenings of our sorority. If you, something you do or something you're a part of would like to be featured just shoot me an email a week or so in advance with what you would like to share and I'll do my best to add you in! This could be a great opportunity to spotlight a club or outside society that you are a member of.
News from our House Mom -- Ms. Anne
Well, my Kappa Delta "daughters", once again here we go! I hope you all are looking forward to two weeks of non-stop madness. Each of us needs to be mindful of the house and grounds and to respect our sisters "digs" in the house. Since you may be sharing a room through recruitment with one of the in house girls, be respectful of their things and leave the room like you found it. We will kindly hold on to some things that you forget to take with you for a week or so but after that these items will be up for grabs. If you see that the trash is overflowing, take it out or at least tie it up and put a new liner in the can. Any help will be most appreciated.
I know I am ready for everything to get back to normal and to give my girlies a big hug and a kiss. If you don't like PDA from me please feel free to let me know, otherwise I am likely to hug and kiss you most anytime, ask any of the upperclassmen. Oh well, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
See you in a couple of weeks and I look forward to meeting those of you who are new to the house so let me know if you have any questions previous to move in. Also, don't forget that we will have a new chef this year and her name is Laura Wolfrom. Laura is wonderful and is looking forward to making our meals both tasty and healthy...no freshman fifteen in this house, lol.
Love you in advance,
aa
P. S. If I had one suggestion for the parents of our girls it would be for you to purchase AAA for your daughters. I cannot tell you how many times I used my AAA for someone in the house who had a flat or dead battery. Now that the calls are limited to four per year I will not be able to do that again.

Good morning most beautiful Epsilon Omega Sisters. I am writing today with upmost excitement. For in just 9 days, WE WILL BE TOGETHER AGAIN. My purpose in my writing today is to encourage all of you to come back to Lex next week with a positive recruitment attitude! This should be an attitude that is ready to work, holds back negative commentary, accepts lack of sleep, and looks forward to the 100 new babies we will get to welcome home on bid day.
To my fellow seniors, let's make this year THE BEST. Let's get rid of the idea that seniors don't want to be involved and really show up next week present completely. Next year, you will miss these long hours with your sisters. The real world is scary. So let's just pretend it doesn't exist for now :)
Also. 4.0 state of mind!!!! Write that on a sticky note or several and put it around your rooms in Lex. Let's not forget our goals people!!!
Also part 2: go outside of your comfort zone this semester. Really expand your friendship circle. Don't seclude yourself to one (boy)friend/person. Hang out with different people during recruitment. Talk to EVERYONE. If there is someone you've never said two words too, go eat lunch with them.

Hello friends! I am so beyond excited to see you all so very soon. There are so many things coming up and it's going to be so fun and exciting and worth all the time and effort each and every one of us puts in.
I don't know if you all have heard, but I am preparing for 120 new members. DONT FREAK OUT! It probably won't happen, but after consulting several sources, this is the number that we decided to plan for. 120 NEW MEMBERS! Can you imagine!??!? I can't really but i've been trying to, and it makes me so nervously excited.
So as all of these plans that i've made start coming into fruition, I will need a few things from you all!
1) PLEASE try to make recruitment a very positive experience. The more positive it is, the less burnt out we all will be by bid day. The theme of bid day is WELCOME and we will need a lot of energy and happiness to effectively welcome all our new friends :)
2) I'm not really good at asking for help, but in the next few weeks I will need lots of help. SO, if you have extra time and are feeling lots of Kappa Delta love, PLZ hit me up because I might have something you can do for me. (This could be grabbing something from Walmart, helping bake before bid day, helping out with retreat, etc)
3) THIS IS ONE OF MY MOST IMPORTANT THINGS: It's hard to understand and to really grasp, but YOU (Im talking to you, sisters of Epsilon Omega) are the most crucial influences on the new members. These girls will be looking up to each and every one of you as they journey through their first year at UK. Please don't forget this! You have a lot of influence and you are the primary examples of what it means to be a KD lady. Shape these new sisters of ours into women that you are proud of.
SOOOOOOOOOO please please please be responsible, respectful to each other, good examples of class and grace, and AWESOMELY FUN like you already are!
#BeKDWeird because that's when we're at our best.
LOVE YOU ALL! I'm glad you're all KD's with me and i'm glad that I get to raise this new member class with you all :)
VP Membership -- Cindy Le

Hi friends! Panhellenic is having their school supply drive again this year before recruitment starts. I want us to get lots and lots of supplies, so for every $5 dollars worth of school supplies you buy, you will get one community service hour! If you do this please bring your supplies in during spirit week with a receipt with your name on it so I can properly log your hours. I will announce where to put the supplies before spirit week starts, and I will also set up a box for you to drop off your receipts. They are due August 14th, so we have time to put together for Panhellenic. Also, all summer community service hours (May-July) must be logged by midnight July 31st. I will not accept any hours from the summer months after that time. SEE YOU ALL SO SOON!
VP Standards -- Emily Paige Hall
Hi ladies!
We are just one week away from the greatest/most important/busiest time of the year! With that being said, I have a few reminders:
-Send QMBs to my e-mail before Spirit Week begins!
-We will be electing the Sophomore position for Standards Board on Day 1 of Spirit Week!
-No alcohol in the house. None. Not even a drop.
-There should be no going out to bars or parties or anything of the sort, even during Spirit Week. If you have the time and energy to go out, you should be spending it at the house helping, instead (plus it's a standards issue anyways)!
-KEEP A BEAUTIFUL, POSITIVE ATTITUDE :))))
Also, keep sending in your excuses for Chapter Meeting to the excuses email! They are due by 11:59 pm on Wednesday, August 12th. Beginning Thursday, August 13th, the window for First Degree excuses will open! They are due by 11:59 pm on Thursday, August 20th.
That's it! Have a great week, and feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
Love in AOT,
EPH

I dont have too much to say before spirit week starts but please take note on a few attendance policies! The first being that once I start to call role I will not stop until the very end of the list. If you are not there to say "Here!" in your most engergentic voice, then you will be marked absent. If you come up after the list is finished you will be marked late and fined appropriately.
PLEASE dont have your friend say "oooh shes just finding a parking spot" or "shes here somewhere...". Nope. It needs to be you.
Ok friends, whats the take a way here? BE ON TIME so I can see your smilling face say "Here!"
LOVE AND AOT
