Dear Families and White Tigers,

Though the temperatures are still hot, I am getting so excited for fall! This is my favorite time of the year. Students have been learning and interacting more with Portrait of a Learner. We are thrilled to bring this portrait to life!

This weekend, I encourage you to ask your children about this language!

For example,

How are you being a thinker, leader and a friend at school?

I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on connecting our portrait language from school to your home!

At Wilson Hill we recognize the importance of relationships and strive to make sure that each child feels safe, valued, and loved. One of the many ways we do this is through a program we call Den of Ten. Once a month, children will gather for 40 minutes with their “den”. During this time children get the opportunity to build relationships with peers and staff beyond their grade level and classroom. The focus of our monthly den meetings is community building and social emotional learning. We read stories, do activities, and complete service projects that empower us to be leaders, thinkers, and friends. The den that students are assigned to when they begin at Wilson Hill remains their den each year they return to Wilson Hill. Students and staff always look forward to this special time together!

Friday, September 27th will be our FIRST Wilson Hill Student Council spirit day!!

The 5th graders recently voted on our spirit days and we are starting the year with the most popular - PJ Day!

So roll out of bed and head to school (after brushing those teeth of course).

(The Student Council at Wilson Hill is composed of our 5th graders. All 5th graders are invited to participate! Contact Miss Pierpoint at jpierpoint@wscloud.org if interested)

The Mobile Dentist will be returning to Wilson Hill September 13th and 16th! This is a great opportunity for students to have a cleaning, x-rays and fluoride treatments at school! Forms are being distributed now. Please return these to the teacher as soon as possible or sign up online at www.myschooldentist.com.

The Wilson Hill Cross Country Team is open to all Wilson Hill students K-5 grade! We run together at recess on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and compete in meets with other Worthington Elementary Schools. Practice begins August 28, 2024 and runs through October. There is no fee to join.

Wilson Hill is looking for volunteers to build reading skills with kindergarten students. Even if you only have 30 minutes a week, our kindergarten students would love to welcome you!
