Principal Message - Kanika A. Burks
Good Evening MCP: Lola Rowe North Families,
Though we celebrate Black History every day, February is dedicated for our country to celebrate Black History Month. As we reflect on the legacies of the giants who have come before us, the reality of colorism and stereotypes still exists. Unfortunately some of our scholars are using hurtful and derogatory words towards their peers. These words may have a negative impact on one's self-esteem and love of the skin that they are in. WORDS HAVE POWER! They can heal or hurt. They can empower the soul or devour the spirit! Please speak with your scholar about the importance of lifting each other higher through their spoken and written words. Together we must empower our children to believe in who they are so that they can change the world and establish their legacy in it.
This newsletter is filled with important information. Pertinent information from the previous newsletter is below the new information. Please be sure to read the entire newsletter until you see the MCP logo!!
Remember the office is closed between 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm to support our dismissal process. If there is an emergency, please call my work cell phone (the number is below). If you have any questions, please contact me.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email kanika.burks@mkeprep.com, via the main office 414-264-6600 or via my work cell phone 414-870-2135.
Have a Terrific Tuesday and Don't Forget Who You Are!!!
Love,
Ms. Burks
