Piper Prairie Press
May 11, 2023
Hello Prairie Families,
As a reminder, tomorrow is FUN DAY! Students may bring a towel to sit on during outside lunch. Also, with all the rain today, the grass could be a bit wet tomorrow so please send students in the appropriate shoes and if needed throw in an extra pair of socks/shoes. We recommend sending your child in shorts and a t-shirt and packing a water bottle. Students will be very active. Bring on the Sunshine!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you for joining us in celebrating the amazing team at Piper Prairie! A simple note, email or letter can make a day!
Finally, as we wrap up the school year we are building class lists for the 2023-2024 School Year. To ensure your child is accounted for in class lists, please complete enrollment. Class lists will be formed for the upcoming school year prior to the teachers last day. If you need assistance with enrollment, don't delay. Email hbryant@piperschools.us for assistance.

First Grade is Future Ready
Our First Graders are Future Ready! After learning about different types of weather patterns, the first graders decided it was important to be prepared for bad weather. The team had multiple experts come in on Friday the 21st of April to share their weather expertise. They helped students generate ideas for what would be necessary for storm preparedness kits. The students were able to partner with younger students regarding how to be prepared for storms and sent home a weather preparedness kit.
Meanwhile, in the other sections of First Grade, students focused on the environment. They explored climate change and took on a project of promoting recycling. Students presented to other classes about the importance of recycling, made a climate change video and started a recycling campaign complete with nearly 500 signatures on a petition to bring a recycling bin back to Piper Prairie Elementary. Great work First Grade!
