Principal's Perspective
Wow! What an amazing first two days! Thank you for reading ALL of the communication and being informed about our back to school items. It's made for a really smooth start!
A few items to note as we get started:
- New attendance phone line: Our attendance line number has changed! Please call your attendance updates in at 317-896-4700, ext 17001.
- Parent Drop Off Line: The first bell rings at 7:40 and the tardy bell is at 7:50. Please be sure you are targeting 7:40 as your drop off time.
- Breakfast at school is an option for students. If riding the bus, students dismiss 5 minutes early to grab their breakfast and eat it in class. If they are a car rider, please have them here earlier in the line so they have time to pick up their breakfast and get to class.
- 3rd and 4th graders will have the option for seconds at lunch. Please talk with your child if you wish that they do not get a second entree (ie. another piece of pizza).
Parent Information Night for grades 1st-4th is Thursday, August 22nd. Session 1 is 6:00-6:30 and Session 2 is 6:35-7:05. Both sessions are the same and allow for flexibility if you have more than one child.
Enjoy this beautiful weekend ahead of us! We can't wait to welcome all our students back on Monday morning!
In partnership,
Mary Beth Fischer

Attendance and Dismissal
Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
Dismissal Changes
If you have a dismissal change, please let the front office know by 1:00pm. This gives the office enough time to notify your child is where they’re supposed to be at the end of the day! Please DO NOT leave dismissal changes on the attendance line.
To notify the front office of a dismissal change, call (317) 896-4700 ext 17011, or email:

Talking Points
Talking Points Messaging Service
Westfield Washington Schools is now using TalkingPoints to communicate with families! TalkingPoints allows for seamless multilingual two-way communication between teachers and families. Families can choose to receive messages via SMS text messaging or through the free FAMILIES | TalkingPoints mobile app for Apple or Android.
This platform has enhanced translation capabilities, so families can receive and send messages in their preferred language. Additional tools like speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and closed captioned videos make this program accessible to all of our Westfield families.
The most important thing you can do to ensure you are receiving messages from your child’s teacher is to make sure your contact information for the “Father” and “Mother” fields in PowerSchool is correct. When a teacher sends out a message, TalkingPoints will automatically use those two phone numbers. If you’d like to add additional contacts, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
