7th & 8th Grade French students are off to Quebec! Students participating in the trip left bright and early Thursday morning. We look forward to sharing photos in next week's post.
6th Grade Festival of Flight
Today we held our annual Festival of Flight for our 6th grade students. Today was a special day when our 6th grade students got to see what they have learned in Technology Education this year up close and in action! We study the basic principles of flight and rocketry in 6th grade Technology Education. Students traveled through 4 separate stations to experience different flight related topics:
Station 1: Students were able to meet and talk to professionals in the aviation industry. There was a commercial airline pilot, a Pratt and Whitney Engineer, and a Lead Electrical Inspector from Lockheed Martin/Sikorsky joining us to talk about what they do and what it took to get where they are.
Station 2: Students watched 2 real full-size helicopters fly over and around the school right at 11:30. The helicopters landed in our upper parking area. The students had a chance to talk to the pilots, tour the helicopters, and learn about what it takes to fly helicopters and how they all work.
Station 3: Students met a Master RC Airplane pilot. He demonstrated how the RC planes work. He flew his planes around doing various stunts and tricks and explained how the RC planes are governed by the same exact flight principals as the real thing. Some students may also get to try their hand at flying the planes themselves (weather permitting)!
Station 4: Students got to launch the model rockets that they made during Tech Ed class this year. There was 2 separate launch stations and we had over 120 model rockets launching off into the clear blue! A special thank you to our guests and Mr. Briggs for making the afternoon a success!
Mrs. Aiken’s 7th grade students are working to publish a children’s picture book based upon their realistic fiction essays. Students learned how to use AI through canva to generate and edit pictures for their digital books. This lesson also led to discussions on the pros and cons of AI in our world.
Wednesday the EHMS Bike Team competed in its final race of the season hosted here at EHMS.
The Panther girls put the exclamation point on their season of domination with Abbie Hambidge and Charlotte Daniels finishing 1st and 2nd on the podium. Abbie finished as season champion and Charlotte finished in 3rd for the season amongst all girls. Great job ladies! The Panther boys finished with three of the top ten spots. Forrest Bellucci finished 4th over all among all boys with Grayden Hearn and Tyler Roman in rounding out the top ten. Other awesome Panther efforts came from Max Schunk, Noah Cyr and Eden Milewski.
The Team would like to thank the teachers, families and friends who came out to cheer them on.

Important Attendance Reminder
A phone call does not excuse an absence..
A phone call is appreciated, but only an email to our attendance inbox or written note can officially excuse absence 1 through 9. Below is our attendance email:
Note: Between the school name and the word Attendance is a underscore ( _ )
EHMS_Attendance@easthamptonct.org
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
