From the Principal's Pen
As we prepare for Spring Break, I want to thank you for the opportunity to work with your children. It is my hope that this year has been a productive one, filled with great learning opportunities which have challenged your child's thinking. I am very proud of our efforts in implementing a new and more comprehensive literacy program, Expeditionary Learning (EL), and a more hands-on math program, Illustrated Math. I believe these two programs have been beneficial to all of our students.
As a school, we have remained committed to our work around the district's five Success Skills:
Prepared and Resilient Learners; Globally & Culturally Competent Citizens; Emerging Innovators; Effective Communicators and Productive Collaborators. Students have provided evidence of their learning in their digital backpacks with over 7,000 artifacts uploaded in grades K-5. The digital backpack allows our students the opportunity to collect evidence of learning, monitor progress, set goals, and reflect upon their growth over time. This week, our 5th grader students presented their Backpack Defenses of Learning in front of a panel of adults who provided feedback and asked reflective questions. I have been extremely proud of our students who have been articulate and well prepared presenting their capstone projects. I have no doubt that our fifth grade Wildcats will continue to flourish in their educational experiences when they transition to middle school.
Happy Spring Break! Whether traveling or staying close to home, I encourage you to take some time to engage in activities that will bring you joy and relaxation. Take this time to recharge so you will be ready for the remainder of the school year with renewed energy and a sense of purpose.
Reminder: Students return to school on Tuesday, April 9.

Parent Input for Next School Year for Teacher Requests
Parents who are interested in making a teacher request for their child for the 2024-25 school year may do so by clicking here. For families with more than one child, a separate Google form must be completed for each of your children attending Wilder for the 2024-25 school year. Requests may be made through Friday, May 3rd. After that date, we will begin making class assignments for the following school year. Please note that requests can only be made through the Google form link listed above. Email requests will not be accepted.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
PTA NEWS & EVENTS
Please join us for our 2nd Annual Earth Day Campus Clean-Up at Wilder on Saturday, April 20th! From 9:00 a.m. until noon, we will be sprucing up our campus, both for our Earth and for our end-of-the-year activities. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels will have opportunities to help, from picking up trash to constructing our much-anticipated second Gaga Ball pit. Let’s celebrate our staff! The PTA is delighted to recognize Wilder’s amazing teachers, administrators, and support staff by organizing Staff Appreciation Week from April 29th through May 2nd. Our staff will enjoy treats from a number of generous community partners— including Bamboo Coffee & Donuts, The Goose, LaRosa’s, Martin’s BBQ, Rooster’s, Starbucks, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe— but we also need help from YOU! Join Wilder’s SBDM! We are accepting nominations for one of the two parent positions on Wilder’s SBDM. If you are interested in nominating yourself or someone you know for this two-year position, please email their name to WilderElementaryPTA@gmail.com. Nominations will be accepted through April 15th. This position is elected by Wilder families, so following the open nomination period, an online vote will be held April 25th - 26th to choose the new representative. School-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Councils include staff and parent representatives who help create school policies and make a wide range of decisions.
The PTA Board needs YOU! We are anticipating several openings on the PTA Board for the 2024-2025 school year. These positions require varying time commitments and skill sets, but all of them give YOU the opportunity to get more involved and make a difference at Wilder. For more information about joining the PTA Board, please talk to any current Board member or email WilderElementaryPTA@gmail.com. Board elections will take place during the PTA meeting on Thursday, May 16th.
The April PTA Meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th in the Wilder Library. We will be finalizing details for Staff Appreciation Week, as well as discussing PTA Board positions for next year and planning end-of-the-year celebrations. ALL Wilder families are always welcome!

SBDM Meeting Update
Our SBDM Council met on Wednesday, March 27th to discuss the following agenda items:
- Review Budget Reports and determine current needs assessment
- Deeanna Walker and Zerina Kicic were elected to SBDM for the staff 2-year terms ending 5-31-26. PTA will be holding their parent elections in April
- Review current vital signs data for Wilder
- Progress review of Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP)
- Review two policies: Homework and Committees
