A Note From the Principal
Dear Families,
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, I find myself filled with pride and gratitude. It has been a year marked by growth, discovery, and collaboration, and it is all thanks to the incredible partnership between our families, staff, and students.
Our students truly shine because of the strong foundation you provide at home and the trust you place in us each day. At our unique public Montessori school, students are challenged not only to meet academic expectations but to grow as independent, responsible individuals. Integrating the UCS curriculum with Montessori works and principles allows our students to dive deeper into their learning with rigor, choice, and purpose.
Our Montessori Peace Education program, including Grace and Courtesy, continues to shape a culture of kindness and mutual respect. Through inquiry-based learning and the freedom to make choices within limits, our students are becoming thoughtful, compassionate citizens of the world.
As we prepare to celebrate the learning and joy of this past year, we also look ahead with excitement. To our graduating sixth graders, we send you off with pride and confidence, knowing you will carry the spirit of a Montessorian into junior high and beyond.
The final six weeks will be filled with meaningful celebrations, fun, and reflection. I look forward to ending this year on a high note and beginning next year with renewed energy and purpose.
Thank you for being a vital part of our school community.
Attendance Policy
As you plan family vacations we kindly ask that you adhere to the school calendar whenever possible. Extended absences can impact a student’s learning experience, as classroom teachers are unable to pre-plan and provide equivalent assignments that replicate the depth of in-class lessons, discussions, and activities.
While teachers will do their best to support students upon their return, the process of catching up is not as effective as participating in real-time instruction. Extended absences, frequent absences, frequent late arrivals, and early dismissals, place an additional burden on both the student and the teacher and may disrupt the continuity of current learning for the entire class.
From a practical standpoint, when a child is sick, they should remain at home to recover. However, additional absences, such as family vacations or discretionary days off, should be limited whenever possible.
Please note that all absences, whether excused or unexcused, are considered when reviewing attendance records and addressing concerns of 10 or more absences. According to Board Policy, when an attendance issue is brought to the principal’s attention, a review of the student’s attendance will be conducted for truancy. I understand that circumstances such as chronic health issues or hospitalization may arise. In these cases, and with appropriate medical documentation, each situation will be handled individually.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your ongoing partnership in supporting consistent and meaningful learning experiences for all students.
Warm regards,
Renee Fiema, Ed.D.

Welcome to the Invertebrate Museum
Students in Mrs. Masinick and Ms. Papadelis’ classes brought their invertebrate studies to life through creative, hands-on projects. Their imaginative representations highlighted both scientific understanding and artistic expression. The finished pieces were proudly displayed and shared, offering a wonderful opportunity for the school community to celebrate the students’ learning and creativity.
"This was a different way of learning and I was really able to express my creativity." - Falak Kotadia
"When we did the invertebrate project I felt like it was a way to express our creativity with different resources and elements. When we did the presentation I felt like we learned a lot of new things and expanded our knowledge." -Kate Jones
