Colonial Park Weekly News
March 24 - March 28
Principal's Note
Dear Colonial Park Families -
Spring has arrived! It looks like we are in for some typical spring weather, so we will all be dressing in layers!
This week, we will kick off our upcoming Fun Run with our students. Colonial Park School will be holding our annual Fun Run on Friday, April 18. All students, PreK through Grade 4, will receive a Fun Run t-shirt and participate in this school-wide event, and families are invited to cheer their child on during their assigned time. The PTO will be sending home a flyer tomorrow with more information and instructions on how to set up your child's Fun Run page. I will share the Fun Run Schedule this week.
Our next Goldie Gathering is this Thursday, March 27. Please encourage your child to wear Colonial Park/Stoneham spiritwear or a favorite blue shirt. Our Student Spotlights this month will be from Preschool, and we will also showcase a Community Spotlight.
Friday, March 28 is an Early Release Day and our Spring is in the Air Theme Day! This is our first theme day, and students will enjoy this special day by rotating through a series of spring themed activities. The PTO will also be providing leis for students and staff and popsicles during lunch. A huge thank-you to Ms. Cutone and Ms. Surabian for initiating our Theme Day! Dismissal will be 11:40 for our preschool students, and students in kindergarten through grade 4 will be dismissed at 12:00. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Best,
Rosa Flynn

*Girls on the Run - registration is now open for our Spring Girls on the Run Team! Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based positive youth development program dedicated to empowering girls in grades 3-4 through engaging, dynamic lessons and physical activity. Girls on the Run inspires girls to build confidence, set goals and use their voice to become leaders.
The team will meet every Monday and Thursday from 2:45 to 4:15, from March 31 to June 2. Each day targets specific life skills (competence, confidence, connection, character and caring). Girls on the Run has implemented a new curriculum, “Hello, Mountain Mover!” which focuses on building confidence to do hard things. The big culminating event is a celebratory, non-competitive 5K which will take place on the Boston Common. Over the course of the program, the girls set running goals which help prepare them for crossing the finish line!

* Coyote Statues- As many of you have probably noticed we have had an increase in the number of geese on our fields. To try and resolved this the PTO has purchased a few coyote decoy statues that will be placed around the field in hopes of scaring off the geese. We will be moving them periodically, but wanted to make sure everyone is aware. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the PTO directly, thank you
