Essex County Newark Tech: Principal, Jenabu Williams
Dear Parents and Guardians
We're back!
As we wrap up the month of September of the 2024-2025 school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on what has been an absolutely phenomenal start at Newark Tech. From the first day of classes to the excitement of Back to School Night, we have already witnessed the incredible energy, enthusiasm, and dedication from both our students and staff. The transition back into the school routine has been smooth, and it’s been wonderful to see so many of our students already embracing new challenges and opportunities for growth.
Looking ahead to the month of October, we are excited about the many enriching activities and events we have planned. Our fall sports teams are in full swing, and we encourage families to come out and support our athletes. We are preparing for several important events in October, including the Week of Respect, School Violence Awareness Week, and National Red Ribbon Week. These events provide fantastic opportunities for students to show their commitment to building a positive school community while participating in meaningful and engaging activities. In addition, we are gearing up for the first round of progress reports, which will allow students to reflect on their academic progress and set goals for the remainder of the semester. We are also excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the rich cultural contributions of the Hispanic community through special events and activities throughout the month.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to make this school year a success. We are so proud of the community we have at Newark Tech, and we are looking forward to everything the rest of the year will bring. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Here’s to a wonderful October filled with learning, growth, and school spirit!
Warm regards,
The Newark Tech Administration Team
Back to School Night
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and families who attended our Back to School Night! Your involvement and enthusiasm made the evening a true success. It was wonderful to see so many of you engaging with teachers, learning more about our programs, and taking an active role in your child’s education. The positive energy in the building was inspiring, and it reaffirmed the importance of our partnership in fostering a strong, supportive community for our students.
We greatly appreciate the thoughtful questions, feedback, and encouragement that you shared during the evening. Your dedication to your child’s academic and personal growth plays a critical role in their success, and we are excited to continue working alongside you throughout the school year. Whether it’s at school events or celebrations, we look forward to seeing you again and strengthening our collaboration as we navigate this exciting year together.

Our No Cellphone Policy
In August 2024, the Newark Tech Administration Team decided to ban cellphones from our school between the hours of 8:15 am to 3:00 pm. We are pleased to share that our no cellphone policy is going exceptionally well, and our students are adjusting beautifully! It has been wonderful to see them embracing this change, as they now have more opportunities to interact with one another face-to-face. Students are enjoying quality time together, playing cards, board games, and ping pong, fostering friendships and building a stronger sense of community.
In addition to these activities, many students have taken advantage of the chance to listen to music and simply spend time together, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere in our school. We appreciate your support in helping to reinforce this policy at home, as it encourages our students to connect and collaborate in meaningful ways. Thank you for being a part of this positive change in our school environment!
Newark Tech's PIM Scholars
We would like to extend a huge congratulations to our PIM Scholars for the phenomenal job they are doing in all of their courses, especially their Rutgers University course. Under the dedicated leadership of Ms. Ramos, our scholars continue to excel and make us proud. This success is made possible through our valuable partnership with Dean Roger's team at Rutgers University-Newark and the Newark Youth Career Pathways program, and we are grateful for their continued support in providing these incredible opportunities for our students. Keep up the great work, PIM Scholars!
Newark Tech: EMT Stairs Chair Rescue
Our scholars are learning the latest emergency best practices in our hands on EMT program. Mr. Williams volunteered to be a patient, as our students practiced using a Stairs Chair. The Stair Chair is a piece of equipment designed to safely transport patients down stairs or steps. Patients should only be moved while secured to the Stair Chair if they are alert and can maintain their own airway. Great job Terriers!
