MESSAGE FROM DR. PAPA
With the excitment surrounding the holiday season, our staff and students enjoyed the month of December with class parties, door decorating, holiday activities, winter concerts, and a fun minute to win it teacher challenge. Our 4th grade & 5th grade band and choir had two outstanding performances each. They inspired our staff and students with shows for each grade as well as performances for their families. I want to recognize Mrs. Kirschner and Mrs. Thomsen for their leadership and dedication to our successful music programs. Additionally, Miss Santini created a Kindness Adevent Calendar that corresponded with the 12 Days to Winter Break Countdown theme days. The goal of this initiative was to promote kindness and empathy throughout the holiday season.
As we look forward to the new year, our school community will participate in the Great Kindness Challenge in the month of January. We are also looking forward to two JCPTA sponsored Harlem Wizards assemblies on January 13th and 27th in our gym.
I want to thank all of our class parents for hosting fun and exciting parties for our students this past Thursday. Our students had a great time thanks to you!
I hope you have a happy and healthy holiday season.
Dr. Papa

TREP$
The TREP$ marketplace on Wednesday, December 4th was a huge success. Our young entrepreneurs created outstanding businesses that were not only profitable, they were creative and inspiring. Shout out to Mrs. Platz, Miss Incledon, and Ms. Duda for their leadership & dedication to our student’s success.
CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS
Every month we will highlight one grade level, one specialist, and one special education classroom to showcase the great things happening here at Arthur Stanlick inside of our classrooms.
FOURTH GRADE HIGHLIGHTS
Our amazing fourth graders have been fully embracing the fun and excitement of the holiday season this December! One of the highlights of the month is the annual Stanlick Holiday Door Decorating Contest, where our students have shown incredible creativity and school spirit. Each class works together to decorate their door with a festive holiday theme, and this year’s designs are nothing short of spectacular. The contest not only sparks teamwork and artistic expression, but it also adds a joyful touch to our school as we celebrate the season together. In math, our fourth graders have been diving into the world of multi-digit multiplication using the area model method. With each lesson, their confidence grows, and they’re mastering these important skills! In writing, students have been focusing on descriptive writing. After reading a fun fiction story about a child entering a gingerbread-making contest, they had the chance to design and create their own gingerbread houses using construction paper, markers, crayons, and their imaginations. Once their houses were complete, students applied their descriptive writing skills to craft detailed paragraphs that vividly showcased their unique and festive creations.
It’s been a month full of learning, creativity, and holiday cheer. Our fourth graders have had an amazing start to the school year, and we can’t wait to continue watching them grow and shine in the months ahead!
SPOTLIGHT CLASSROOM: MRS. SEALS
SPECIALIST FOCUS: MRS. TREVENEN - ART EDUCATION
Students had a great first few months of art! 1st graders have been learning about shapes, lines, and texture, creating awesome rocketships and fishbowls. 2nd grade created warm and cool fall leaves and currently working on overlapping geometric shape paintings. 3rd grade learned about balance and now onto creating space and distance in their artwork. 4th graders created fall landscapes using one-point perspective and are just finishing up using value to make 3D cylinders. 5th grade created initial designs using metal tooling and currently working on using value in their artwork. Congrats to my November and December student artists of the month: Christopher M., Dahlia W., Savannah L., & Greyson O!
MRS. CARBONE'S MAKE HEALTHY HABITS A PRIORITY
COMMUNITY SERVICE: FOOD PANTRY
Miss Incledon’s 4th grade class spent time during their class holiday party to put together 100 hygiene kits and 20 winter bags for people in need. Parents all generously donated money to purchase supplies for the kits such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair combs, scarves, gloves, blankets, and more! These donations will be delivered to Greater Life in Newark which is a community service program with a food pantry, kids education enrichment programs, family resource center, and so much more.
