TRIUMPH 4TH GRADE STEAM
Ms.Teenyanoff joined Ms. Martinson's Triumph 4th Grade STEAM class and introduced the Makey Makey. Students learned about what materials conduct electricity and turned the Makey Makey into a piano, an Etch-a-sketch, playdough instruments, and even a gaming controller. All students had fun and were engaged!
STEAM FAMILY NIGHT
Family members had an opportunity to spend Tuesday evening (11-14-2023) using a variety of special makerspace equipment to generate fancy cards on a mini cricket machine, earings & keychains on a laser cutter, and colored tiles with a laser cutter and permanent makers. You can check out pictures of the evening and their work in the link below.
NAVIGATORS MUSIC
Ms. Dana Davis came into Ms. Dupont's classroom for music. She had the students dancing, singing, clapping and snapping. She is clearly quite good at connecting with little kids.
Note: The first 10 pictures were of a short chapter read by Ms. Dupont. The book she read sure captured their attention.

FAMILIES, TELL US HOW YOUR STUDENT(S) TRAVEL TO SCHOOL
St. Albans City School has been a Safe Routes to School partner for 10 years. Their organization helps support our Walking Wednesday program and provides students with access to bicycles for our yearly P.E. bicycle unit. In return, they ask that we provide information about how students travel to and from school.
Families, if you could fill out this survey it would be appreciated. The data gathered is confidential and meant only to help provide an overall picture of what is happening with transport at City School.

NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
November is Native American Heritage Month, or as it is commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people. Take a peek at the display in the library or follow this link to our virtual collection to explore these texts all month long!
TOUCHING SPIRIT BEAR
After severely injuring Peter Driscal in an empty parking lot, mischief-maker Cole Matthews is in major trouble. But instead of jail time, Cole is given another option: attend Circle Justice, an alternative program that sends juvenile offenders to a remote Alaskan Island to focus on changing their ways. Desperate to avoid prison, Cole fakes humility and agrees to go.
While there, Cole is mauled by a mysterious white bear and left for dead. Thoughts of his abusive parents, helpless Peter, and his own anger cause him to examine his actions and seek redemption—from the spirit bear that attacked him, from his victims, and, most importantly, from himself.
INDIGENOUS INGENUITY
Corn. Chocolate. Fishing hooks. Boats that float. Insulated double-walled construction. Recorded history and folklore. Life-saving disinfectant. Forest fire management. Our lives would be unrecognizable without these, and countless other, scientific discoveries and technological inventions from Indigenous North Americans. Spanning topics from transportation to civil engineering, hunting technologies, astronomy, brain surgery, architecture, and agriculture, Indigenous Ingenuity is a wide-ranging STEM offering that answers the call for Indigenous nonfiction by reappropriating hidden history. The book includes fun, simple activities and experiments that kids can do to better understand and enjoy the principles used by Indigenous inventors. Readers of all ages are invited to celebrate traditional North American Indigenous innovation, and to embrace the mindset of reciprocity, environmental responsibility, and the interconnectedness of all life.
