Notes from East Hill Elementary
March 21, 2025
Message from the East Hill Principal
Dear East Hill Families,
Weβve had a fantastic week filled with exciting events and accomplishments!
We kicked off the week in festive style as our Irish dancers from the Johnston School of Dance performed for us at a special St. Patrickβs Day assembly. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday and appreciate the talent of these young dancers.
A huge congratulations to our 4th-grade teams who participated in the Battle of the Books! After an impressive competition, two of our East Hill teams advanced to compete against three teams from Onondaga Road. In a thrilling final round, East Hill came out on top and will now move on to the regional competitionβway to go!
Our 3rd and 4th graders had an incredible opportunity to work with the REV Theatre Company this week in a Workshop in the Arts. It was a great experience for students to explore creativity and performance in an engaging and interactive way.
Report cards will be available for viewing in SchoolTool after 5:00 PM this evening. Please take a moment to review your childβs progress, and reach out to their teacher if you have any questions.
Finally, a special thank you to our PTA for hosting the Makerspace Event tomorrow! This is always a fun morning for families to learn and create together. We hope to see many of you there!
Thank you for your ongoing support of our students and school community. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan Meskos

π π Battle of the Books ππ
This year 23 of East Hill's fourth grade students competed in CNY Battle of the Books! Battle of the Books (BOB) is a regional competition where students create teams and then study a given list of 8 books over several weeks or months. They then participate in a quiz-bowl style tournament at various levels starting at building level, then district level, and then regional and super regional competitions.
This year two of East Hill's teams moved on from the building level to the district level against Onondaga Road Elementary where a total of 5 teams of students competed for the chance to participate in the regional competition. At the conclusion of the district battle one of East Hill's teams, The Pioneers, was declared the winner and has been moved on to the regional competition which will occur next week.
The librarian would like to acknowledge the hard word and dedication that all of the 23 participants exhibited! Each team, each member, put forth amazing effort and showed wonderful team work during the building competition!
Congratulations to all who participated, and a special congratulations to The Pioneers!
Wesley Hawkins, Owen McGee, Emerson Moulton, Jackson Maule
Good luck next week! ππ
